7/31/22: Man, we used to enjoy this place. Today's experience was terrible, though. The young blonde lady at the register was nice and helpful, but organization after that point was bad.
Between the line and the people at tables or waiting for orders, there were about 7 people. I sat at one of the tables while I waited for my order. I got a bacon breakfast burrito and a hazelnut latte. (Around 9:30 on 7/31/22)
I never heard my order called out. Eventually I noticed a couple of items wrapped in white paper sitting on the counter. I realized that the girl with the long black ponytail was working the grill, and when she dropped off the next item I could barely make out the word 'sandwich' when she spoke.
I went up to ask if one of the items was my breakfast burrito. The girl said something as she walked away from me. I couldn't hear her, but it definitely was not "yes, this one is yours." A regular that the girl had been talking to had to explain to me what the girl said. The girl was clearly busy, but I was exasperated by the annoyed look on her face and the complete lack of customer service as she walked away.
When the hazelnut latte was ready, there wasn't even an attempt to announce it. My wife had to go ask.
In the past we've been helped by the owner, and he obviously cares about his business. This has been a place we look forward to stopping whenever we pass through. After today, I don't think we'll be back. It could have been saved by just two seconds of actual customer service. Instead, I left ticked off with a sour taste in my mouth.
March 2022: Excellent ice cream, and my wife loves the coffee. She got a hazelnut latte. I got chocolate cheesecake and salty cookie ice cream. "Salty cookie" might sound weird, but...
Read moreWe wanted so badly to like this place and we are so disappointed both by the food / drinks and the service. We used to go to the previous coffee shop all the time since it’s so close to our home.
When the Bean and Cream first opened, we were super excited. We called to make sure they were open and placed a call in order for milkshakes and sandwiches. We picked up the food and took it home. I got a call from the owner about 30 minutes later saying he had actually cancelled our payment on his card reader and could we please come back and pay again? So we drove back into town and paid again.
The owner didn’t offer to comp anything for our trouble. Additionally, the sandwiches were average / nothing special and the ice cream tasted freezer burned.
So we thought we would give them another chance today. We were waiting in line when an apparent regular customer came in with a call ahead order. The same guy working the counter told the employee to ring the regular up first without acknowledging us standing at the register, so we had to step aside.
Not a big deal and I wouldn’t have minded letting her go first, but there are ways to do so politely eg. Do you mind letting her check out first? We should have just walked out then, but we didn’t. Instead we paid $20 for two lattes that tasted so burnt and watery that neither of us were able to drink it and two very stale pastries.

Read moreWe were staying in Black Hawk and did not want to spend what the restaurants in the hotel were charging, so we looked elsewhere. The B&C sounded perfect. It’s easy to miss as it doesn’t stand out, but we found it without any problems. My husband and I both ordered the Big Breakfast Sandwich on a croissant . I had ham and he had sausage. They were huge and delicious. We did not have to worry about going hungry for a while. They have great menu options, and everything is made to order. I also indulged in a caramel macchiato. It was quite tasty. It was a bit more sweet and caramely than some other coffee shops, but I liked it. The shop is cute. Not a whole lot of seating, but it’s quaint. My only not so perfect review was the service. It wasn’t bad by any means, but it just wasn’t as welcoming and friendly as I would have expected it to be. Again, it wasn’t bad at all. Nothing bad happened, and I didn’t feel like I wasn’t welcome there, but it was just, well, eh. I will say that the few places we have been so far in Colorado have kind of have the same service attitude (I guess that’s the best way to put it). I’m from Georgia, so it may just be a cultural difference between regions and states. But overall, I highly recommend The...
