ABSOLUTELY worth the trip. This is a Public Course and though maybe a little expensive compared to a run-of-the-mill public golf course, with the amazing play & view this is a bargain.
We actually needed to rent clubs and were very pleased with the quality. I've never used rentals of this quality and able to select between stiff & flex. I would say the full set of irons, putter and 4 woods would probably put this set in the $2,500 range. The rental fee includes 2 sleeves of Callaway (you keep regardless) and are worth more than half the rental fee.
The carts are good all electric ones with newer GPS and hole information. Out of the 18 holes only 2 were cart path only (3-pars) so you drove right to your ball and got the GPS information.
Hopefully you're here because you already know this course "Canyon" is built into the canyon with an overall altitude change of over 500 feet. The cart GPS along with the scorecard as well as most standard Golf Apps will provide you with the rise or fall information you need per hole. I specifically remember one hole that had an 88 foot drop (great hole too).
Because the golf season is a little shorter at this elevation that actually translates into a superior fairway & green condition. The snow melt and spring rains ensure the course is very healthy and the water for sprinklers comes from a snowmelt lake.
There are two courses and officially the Canyon Course is harder than the Lake Course but the Canyon Course is not difficult at all. The greens are not easy so work on your putting game.
Because the Canyon Course is slightly more scenic it fills up faster, similarly you can almost always get a decent Tee Time for the Lake Course with just 24hr notice.
The course is 15 minutes East of Salt Lake City and similarly 15 minutes West of Park City. It is worth the drive regardless.
I would and will play this course again. Once I realized it costs less than the comparable Private Courses I plan on making this a monthly pilgrimage.

Read moreI've played this course multiple times and have never had issues. I have seen many different wildlife including, mountain lions, deer, elk, squirrels and most recently a moose chilling in the shade. The course is always in excellent condition and the greens look and play great.
I just recently played in a small friendly tournament. Our tee time was for 10:54. Mountain Dell didn't call us out to the tee box until 11:31. Around hole 5 the Marshall came around and told us we were playing too slow and to speed it up, because the team in front of us were 3 holes ahead. I told the Marshall that it's because we got called out to our tee 37 minutes late. He said that didn't play a factor and to speed it up. By now the team behind us was at least a hole behind. When we finished a hole, the team behind us weren't even to the tee box yet. We weren't pushing anyone and nobody was waiting on us. I explained to the Marshall that we were not the bottleneck issue and it was obvious that we were not. He followed us around the course, would park and just glare at us. He even stopped by the snack bar between hole 10 &11 and waited for us to order drinks. After I ordered my drink the team behind us hadn't even got to the 10 tee box and we were headed to 11. He told me again that we needed to speed it up. I pointed to the 10th tee box and said, "Look, the team behind us isn't even on the tee box yet". He just looked at us and said, "I don't care, I need you to speed it up." This Marshall was intentionally pestering us because we spoke up for ourselves and he knew we were right. Just because you're titled a Marshall doesn't mean you can be a D!@&. Suggestion: Change the sign and title from "Marshall" to "Players Assistance". It was super uncomfortable and highly irritating.
TLDR; Mountain Dell called us out to the tee box 37 minutes passed our tee time, then had the Marshall follow us around to speed us up to make up for the lost time Mountain Dell...
