Drove almost 5 Hours to come hike this Trail. It was easy to find, i was able to park right in front of a park which was close to the trail. The hike up was a little intense due to the snow/ice on trail. We managed to make up to the top along with our Chihuahua. The views from top are beautiful. The trail was also muddy but that was cause some areas already had melting snow but some areas didn’t get that much sun so they were icy. Just make sure you bring a lot of water and some snacks. So hiking poles are helpful but not a must, we found some sticks and they helped especially with some areas being icy. All around it took us almost 6 hours to hike it...
   Read moreWe arrived on a Saturday morning in May around 8:45am and discovered an empty parking lot. Alternatively, the Wilson Mountain Trailhead was packed when we drove by. When we finished around 2pm, the North Wilson lot was packed. You can buy a pass at the trailhead and they have bathrooms. The hike is best done with poles and the downhill is slippery and steep. Otherwise, the hike is worth it once you reach the top. This hike is partially shaded which is ideal on those hot Sedona days. We hiked up to the junction (4 miles round trip) through both verdant forest and high plateau (6700 feet). On the first two miles new saw many birds, including a spotted towhee that posed obligingly for us on a tree stump. We did encounter a rattler on one of the switchbacks at about 4,000 feet, in a hollow right alongside the trail, but he rattled without striking....
