This trail is kinda steep so prepare yourself for a serious trek. Bring plenty of water and pack out whatever you pack in. The whole mountain range is fairly beautiful and pristine, I'd hate to see trash up there. While here pay our respects to the boy scouts who lost there lives up there while caught in a blizzard. But don't get too caught up being somber there's an unbelievable amount of beauty and wildlife all around you, especially for birders. So bring you camera, your binoculars, and your sense of adventure, and enjoy the hike. Bring plenty of water tho. The spring is about 4 miles up. If you do get water from the spring, make sure to filter it or use tablets, but don't worry, the water is delicious....

An absolutely beautiful, but we went there the day after Christmas and it was very crowded. There are many parking lots along the very short roadway but all of the parking spaces were taken. The road is too narrow to park along it. Finally we saw some one leave and got a parking spot to walk up the trail. It definitely is beautiful and is not too challenging with places that you can step off the trail for great views and vantages. The drive there is also beautiful.I would recommend packing a lunch, because there's many places to picnic. Bring binoculars and a camera. Do not forget water! Enjoy! If it were not so crowded and I could find a good spot to park I would have rated...

This is a wonderful trail up to one of the best peaks around. The trail is very well maintained with room for passing and resting nearly the entire way up to the summit.

I’ve made it a point to try to run/hike this trail once every spring for the last several years, depending on when you head up there may be snow pack near the summit which should be taken super seriously. A bad slip near the top could be disastrous.

Would recommend bringing trekking poles and more water and food than you think you’ll need.

Undoubtedly worth the effort if you can make...

Moderate to hard trail, we didn't finish it but what we saw of it was beautiful! Partially shaded and there were rest areas. This trail is at the top of the road going into Madera and has a great picnic area at the trailhead with multiple areas set apart (looked like 20 or so based on the space markers). All the spots had permanent standing bbq grills and decently sized concrete picnic tables with restrooms close by. Beautiful area for a day trip to get out of town!

An incredible and beautiful place to explore. My family and I have been frequent visitors for decades. This evening in the span of a couple hours we saw deer, a tarantula, and encountered a Rattlesnake in the brush. Be prepared for whatever adventure you have in mind. Both in supplies and I suggest going with someone who has wilderness experience. The cap of Mt.Wrightson is an incredible sight to behold. If you can make it there...😀

A nice squirrel and some interesting tree formations are along this trail. Just have to slow down and relax along the trail and let nature take your stresses. On a side note, was about 20 degrees cooler than down in the valley, and the restrooms are closed except for porta pots. These are clean and maintained. No water in the creek, but cool breezes and refreshing sites.
