A Hidden Gem for Nature Lovers - Parley’s Historic Nature Park
Parley’s Historic Nature Park is a beautiful escape tucked away in the city, offering a unique blend of natural landscapes and historical charm. This spacious park has something for everyone, from hiking trails and open fields to a peaceful creek that runs through the area. The trails vary in difficulty, so there’s something for both leisurely walkers and more serious hikers. Along the way, interpretive signs offer a glimpse into the park’s history, which adds a meaningful layer to the experience.
One of the highlights of Parley’s is its dog-friendly policy. Unlike some other parks, Parley’s allows dogs off-leash in designated areas, making it an absolute favorite for dog owners. The creek is especially popular with dogs on warm days, as they can splash and play, adding a lively vibe to the park.
The park is well-maintained, though certain areas could benefit from additional signage to help visitors navigate the trails more easily. Additionally, there are few amenities here, so bringing your own water and snacks is a good idea. Despite these minor issues, Parley’s Historic Nature Park is an ideal destination for a relaxing day outdoors, with its beautiful scenery, historical significance, and dog-friendly policies giving it a well-deserved...
Read moreThis trail that my boyfriend, his daughter, and I went on was supposed to be a dog free offshoot from the main portion. It was fantastic and there were lots of things I didn't know were there, like this place that almost looks like a hidden city. It was in all actuality, a Motocross/dirt bike area. Looked like it hadn't been used for a while but no signs or anything to tell why it was built or when it was generally used. The reason this little park doesn't get five stars is because some jerk decided to disobey the rules and come on this trail with two dogs. That was bad enough but he had left them off leash. I don't understand why he felt the need to take his dogs on a part of the trail that was supposed to be off-limits to dogs as there is a huge portion that is dedicated to those that want to have their dogs with them. Not that it was a total killer but it was kind of a bummer to see someone disobeying the rules because it's people like that that ruin things for all of us. Still, gorgeous park and I would go there again. Just take lots of...
Read moreThis is hands-down the best OFF LEASH dog park I've been to in the Salt Lake area and all of Utah for that matter. It has Creeks for the dogs to get water and trash bags for your puppy and a whole bunch of trees and trails for the dogs to run in and out of. Dogs have so much space to run around that you don't see dogs getting too protective or possessive which is awesome! The people are super friendly because dog people are the best, so you are bound to encounter fun people. Our dog did get attacked here and fortunately not too bad, but bit through his lip and the other dog owner was very kind and willing to do anything to take care of our dog if he needed any medical attention. I bring this up because I believe you will see upset dogs anywhere, you can't escape it, especially depending on your dog. And even though it was scary to see my husky get hurt. I will still choose to go here time and time again because my dog loves it so much. I go at least 3 times a week and have only had that 1 bad experience. Highly recommend this park, it's...
