In genere, le loro cascine erano costituite da una o più fosse, uno o più magazzini fuori terra e un certo numero di focolari esterni e fosse di stoccaggio. Una famiglia poteva vivere in una fossa per 10 o 20 anni prima di trasferirsi in una nuova posizione.
