You’re probably asking yourself why I’ve only given this place a four star review. Let’s be real this is still just a gas station and a convenience store not Disneyland. However, it does have a mini casino inside the gas station and a lot of really cool things if you wanna walk around and just look at stuff. have a decision anytime I stop to get gas so as I was driving across the country of New Mexico, I started reading reviews. This gas station stood out head and shoulders of the other gas stations. I was reading reviews, although there is a gas station down the road that apparently has a pretty good parking lot to sleep in, so that might be worth checking out one of these times.
But let’s get down to business. First things first the bathroom! I walked into the bathroom after seeing a several photos online other Google reviews, and it was pretty much exactly what I expected. It was sort of clean, when I entered the bathroom there was only one person in a stall, and there was one other guy using the urinal. there were two urinals that had bags over them, but you could tell they were out of order, so there was no real risk.
Let’s talk more about the gift shop, If you scroll down, just a little bit, you’ll read a glowing review of an Elmo, plush doll and some other cool swag. First of all, it was a Grover in the photos. If you look closely, not Elmo, unfortunately, that wasn’t still there. However, I did find the purple seeds and they look really cool as well. One of these days I might get a purple seat to sit on.
Now let’s get down to the good stuff I walk in the store. I look over to my left there’s a McDonald’s in the gas station/curio shop! Don’t get too distracted by the Sweet casino and go straight to McDonald’s. It’s the first time I’ve ever seen a McDonald’s with green chili on their hamburgers! It was delicious. Also highly recommend getting a basket of fries instead of the small because they’re three times as big for about a nickel more.
Now, as if that wasn’t good enough, I’m heading out to meet my girlfriend who’s giving our dog a treat in the car and willow and behold right next to our car there’s a guy playing the guitar slumped over like he’s really in the mood and feeling it. This guy was ripping! hello Santa Fe land of enchantment, I will be back! I can’t wait for my next road trip just so I can stay at this little place. See you next time....
Read moreDO NOT, UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES FUEL HERE!!! Their pumps are rigged to pump less fuel than the meter reads. Filled up here because of their low price on Diesel. Pump stopped at 153 gallons. Tank was 1/4 full. Pump should have stopped at 125 gallons at the most, like every other time on this truck. I then noticed the sticker on the pump showed the last time the pump was checked by the state agency in charge was June of 2015, which means the last time their accuracy was checked was almost 2 and a half years ago. The 2 cashiers and the "manager"whom they pointed us to, were immediately sarcastically defensive. I asked the manager how often their pumps are checked or calibrated and he replied they are checked "at least once a year". When I pointed out the sticker seal showed that the last time was 2015. He just smirked and in a passive-aggresive tone said "You know, you're on native soil, we don't have to have them checked....... Get out of here." then he waved at me with a smirk the whole time. My pet peeve is feeling like I'm taken advantage of, but these people made me feel victimized. So I guess that means that because they're on "native soil" it gives them a license to steal. The last time this happened was in Mexico. If you want to be robbed go ahead and pump here. Go to pilot or flying J, instead. They're more expensive but at least they won't rob you and then laugh at you tell you that it's too bad.
THESE PEOPLE ARE THIEVES. DO NOT LET THEM STEAL FROM YOU. Do Not patronize this business. I attached photos to back...
Read moreJenny and I visited the Acoma Sky City in October of 2012. We had made a trek from California to visit Santa Fe, Taos Pueblos, the Petroglyph National Monument, Bandelier National Park, and more. The Acoma Sky City and Taos Pueblos are the two greatest highlights from the trip. In Taos, I absolutely loved talking to the artists and residents. The people at both of these places are a breath of fresh air for the soul.
I was concerned initially about visiting the Acoma Reservation, i learned you had to book a tour, had to ride a bus to the top, there were fees for bringing a camera, fees for practically anything. I was concerned if there would be climbing, but there wasn't. In reality, the $20 rate per person package was a huge value. The vans are clean, the staff friendly, the atmosphere inviting. Our tour guide Dakota took us on a journey to another time and place in history. He made the visit an incredible experience.
I totally recommend visiting here at least once in your lifetime. Bring a real camera as cell phones are not allowed. Post cards, books and such are available as well.
This was one of the most memorable destinations...
