Sprague Lake is one of my favorite places to photograph elopements in RMNP! The dock makes for a beautiful venue with great views of the mountains and lake behind you, and while the trail around the lake can be busy, people are generally nice enough to stay off the little offshoot trail to the dock when they can see it's been reserved for a ceremony.

Read moreDidn’t get to see more than a glimpse of the lake but it’s very pretty. I’m reviewing this because we stopped here on our tour with yellow wood guiding aka Jared and these bathrooms were our saving grace. Skip bear lakes and come here if you can, it’s not clean but it’s definitely better.
UPDATE: we came back and bear lake potties were better, these were still best though. We did the walk around sprague lake and it was beautiful!! Love coming here! Super easy walk/hike. Decent amount of parking and it’s the underdog compared...
Read moreSprague Lake used to be a resort before the national park acquired it, and it definitely retains the same atmosphere. This is a great place to go for an easy hike, have a barbecue cookout, go canoeing, view wildlife, or go fly fishing. The views are beautiful. This is one of the few places in the park that has drinking water and flush toilets with sinks, so it's a great place to park after a day of hiking.
