Arrived on Thursday to beat the crowd. From what I saw there was an abundance of spots around the lake, most being located on the southeast side of the reservoir even on Saturday when we left. The camping spots are equipped with a picnic table and a fire pit. It's Denver water so this reservoir prohibits anyone from going into the water. Seemed a little strange because they spray pesticides around the shoreline and saw multiple dogs swimming in the lake. I wouldn't recommend this lake for fishing unless you have a boat or are ice fishing. Depth around the lake doesn't get much deeper than 4ft except along the channels which are inaccessible for shoreline fishing. There are absolutely no trees here so pack your sunscreen. There are also a surprising amount of mosquitos so bug spray will be a must as well. The cleanliness of the bathrooms was remarkable, props to Denver water on that. Hot Sulphur Springs is nearby and has a few restaurants, a motel, and a gas station. All in all I would recommend finding another spot for camping. Scenery surrounding the reservoir left a lot to be desired and the abundance of pull behinds and motorhomes kind of ruined the outdoorsy vibe. Closer to Granby and Winter Park seems like a better alternative...
