This is purely honest review from our visit 9/1/22-9/4/22 staying in the hotel (not cabin) King bed ADA. I had been so enamored with the lodge from my last year's visit that I vowed I would return to stay at the lodge the following year. I couldn't keep my eagerness so as soon as I returned from my trip in mid September of 2021, I booked my 2022 Zion trip with the Zion Lodge. As my trip approached, I realized I had not done much research on the actual lodge. I started scrolling through reviews and there were some terrible ones. The ones that stood out to me the most were the bugs, specifically roaches, which I absolutely cannot stand. I looked over as many reviews as I could and most were complaints about the accomodations, spotty wifi, housekeeping needs, etc.
Fastfoward to the end of my trip and here are my takeaways;
This place is not for luxury needs. It is purely convenience and it was very convenient. We hit The Narrows in little time and had the convenience of changing over right after our day trip. They want visitors to conserve water and energy so they ask that we reuse our towels during our stay. I can respect that and I had no problem with that. Housekeeping services are touch and go. If you absolutely need some sort of housekeeping needs, then I think they can accomodate it but you have to give them a heads up prior to your request. The rooms are outdated but in my personal opinion, this place isn't meant to be modernized. Its rustic appeal is what draws people and we had a pleasant stay. The rooms aren't spotless by no means and I did bring my own disinfectant wipes to wipe down any surfaces. Otherwise, cleanliness wasn't an issue. I did not encounter roaches and it was a HOT weekend. There were heat advisories all around the area and I was precarious during my stay. However, there were small bugs which I wasn't keen on but nonetheless, wasn't bothered. I did make sure to seal up any trash bags, especially ones with food, at night or throw all my trash out at the end of the evening. We tried to keep it as neat and tidy as possible and closed up all our bags when we were going to be gone all day. Yes, the wifi is spotty but you are in the middle of nature's treat! Take a moment to detach from electronics and just simply enjoy what's around you. I know people can get up in arms about this but for what it's worth, it's not everyday that you're surrounded by thousand ft cliffs. The Lodge is a gorgeous place through and through. In the evening, I took my 2.5 year old daughter to the front where deer grazed every day. It is such an incredible view as soon as you walk out and one that I will always cherish. Even if you don't stay here, I would recommend just taking a stop off the shuttle to relax and sit in the grass. Check in and check out was smooth and I was actually bummed that we were leaving those unforgettable views.
Overall, I think it's worth it to come stay at least once just to get the full experience. I don't think we will be coming back anytime soon as we will probably just stay in Springdale next time. However, the convenience is definitely worth it to experience once in your life. We had quite the pleasant stay and I cannot...
   Read moreOk I get it, you want to be completely submerged in Zion and be on the valley floor. Like many other US national park lodges expect to pay the price but do not expect any level of luxury or reasonable expectations to go with it. If you paid this much at an independent owned establishment you would likely be pissed.||But you are paying for experience, right? ||Simple things may frustrate you but hopefully they will be offset by the impressive views. And the impressive views. And the views. Nothing else, thats for sure. Do not expect anyone to listen or care if you feel you are under served. Its a government operation. ||My first beef with this national park lodge is that every soda machine is empty of the brand that is printed on the machine and instead filled with generic brand flavored sparkling water, Gatorade and sparkling water. So, they decided to cater 100% to the European visitors while providing nothing for the tax payers who fund the resort. All I wanted was a Dr. Pepper in a can. At the last minute I walked into the gift shop and found one non-diet Pepsi. I asked if there was a boycott on American soft drinks and my question fell on deaf ears, I was told there are free water dispensers in the park. Duh, no shâ Shirlock! I drink water all day on the trail, I just want a soft drink. ||Second, the breakfast options are not only limited, they are poorly markedâŚ.not marked. I speak English and it took two employees to tell me the difference between the 3 foil wrapped breakfast sandwich options. How does someone who doesnât speak English figure this out? Hey National Park Service, people use an app called TranslateâŚthey scan the text (if you had it) and it translates it into their language. What crappy service, what a crappy layout. Sorry, but it really is crappy and inconsiderate. I guess no one running this joint has ever traveled to a foreign country and thought âlets try to make this work for our foreign visitors â. ||The lodge rooms have AC, a microwave and a refrigerator, no freezer. They are well maintained, this staff clearly cares about how their job will effect youâŚeither that or they are monitored and managed but the breakfast cafeâŚwhich is also the lunch and dinner cafe, is not.||We drove into town every night for dinner sadly, We just didnât have confidence in the onsite restaurant. Therefore We cannot say if its good or not. ||There is a beer garden onsite. Talk about a refreshing end to a day of hiking. Nice staff here, fair sized portions about...
   Read moreThe lodge was great because of the location. You are in the middle of Zion Park and the views are priceless and deserve 5 stars. I'm giving the lodge 4 (probably should be 3) because the rooms are quite dated (stayed in the building called "Watchman") and need some love. We stayed here for 3 nights (approx $260 a night) but I know I was paying for the location and not so much the room. I will tell you the bed is uncomfortable and felt like a dorm bed. The room has a window unit for air and worked well. A balcony with 2 rocking chairs was beautiful for just sitting and enjoying the views. There is no refrigerator in the room which was disappointing, we had a cooler bag but the ice machine was usually empty. The room could use some updating while still keeping its rustic charm. When we checked in we were told that due to the drought they don't offer daily housekeeping unless requested the day before. I really didn't care about having the towels changed daily but it would have been nice to have someone come in to take out the trash. The staff at check in was incredibly nice and pleasant. We had a TV in the room but no remote- didn't really care just didn't want to be charged for a missing remote. There are no laundry facilities on the property but there are 2 in Springdale. The gift shop is nice and has a great variety of items to purchase. The cafe next door to the gift shop has some quick lunch options and not outrageously priced plus the food was actually decent. Bonus- they have a small beer garden outside. Just outside of the cafe is a large grass area where you will find deer roaming daily so it makes for a nice lunch spot. Across the parking lot from check-in they offer horseback riding and it's worth the money. You are super close to several trails like the emerald pools (highly recommend) and Angel's Landing (go early- it's a hard trail). You are a short shuttle ride from the Narrows which is the most beautiful trail I've ever seen. Get there early (6am) and rent the proper footwear in town. We ended up renting shoes and poles from Zion Guru because they allowed us to pick up our shoes/pole the afternoon before our Narrows hike which made it possible for us to get on the trail by 6am. Actually, we also rented ebikes (highly recommend) from them and when we were done with the bikes in the afternoon we grabbed our gear for the Narrows hike. Overall the lodge location is phenomenal and the views are priceless. I would stay here again just for the location and...
