Chilo Lock 34 Park — Attraction in Franklin Township

I love this place! It's a great spot to have a family gathering/cookout with ample picnic shelters. There's a great playground and a really interesting museum dedicated to barges. The restrooms were very clean. A lot of people use the park as a launch spot for their boats. There's plenty of parking. People can reserve one of the two yurts they have. My favorite part of this park is the nature preserve that neighbors the park. My dog and I love walking the trails that traverse through woods and then a prairie and I love the ponds! It was fun and nice for the kids isn't to big tho while the kids were playing one of the workers came up to us and told us about the animal museum in the park where we could go touch and see live animals and taxidermy. Overall the staff was very nice and the view was pretty and everyone had fun from a 3 year old to a 50 year old and the boys who are 5, 8, 8, and 10 had a great time to. Love this park! It's amazing in so many ways, it has a great boat launching ramp for entering or exiting the river and easy access to your vehicle, there are the most beautiful views there, it's always very well maintained and cleaned very well kept, heated bathroom for winter time :-) , an awesome week informed museum, a great spot for having a picnic or family get togethers, and some of the most beautiful nature walking trails!
