We went on a fishing weekend trip to Freeport for Father's Day. We went over the to the Freeport Museum one morning, and to our surprise they had a shark exhibit. This was a nice treat as our family throughly enjoys and love sharks. Thy kid play room was also really fun for our kids; it was raining and this was a bonus entertainment. We also enjoyed the historical exhibits of the museum. In all the fun, our daughter left her purse and the people were so kind to keep it safe and try to reach us. Once we got in contact, we had already left and they arranged to have it sent to us. I can't wait for our next fishing trip in Freeport and to check out the museum again, and give then an in person thank you!

Considering the size of the town this is a great little museum. Very nice little kids’ area with tons of different activities. The Halloween exhibit is very fun. Actual regional ghost stories. And ghost stories film in the theatre too! The front exhibit space has an excellent exhibit on the Texas navy, plus native history, Texas revolution, and slavery. The back room has more 20th century history specific to the town. But several of the displays in this area lacked explanations. It would be nice to have better stories with this area. Some dress up clothes in the history area for kids would be a coo addition too. Overall This place is definitely worth stopping for and hour or two!!

I went to the Freeport Historical Museum for their history event this weekend. They had a large group of reenactors out there that showed a variety of thing. I was able to attend with a friend and we all had such a good time. The staff is knowledgeable as were their volunteers. It’s a neat little museum with a great shark exhibit going on right now. In addition, they have an awesome area for kids to play in. Even when they don’t have an event going on they have a ton of displays and you can learn about local history and wildlife. Definitely will go back again! Well worth the $5 admission fee to see and learn about some really neat local history.
