Short version: Jason and Northern Lights Heating and Air are exactly what you’re looking for in a small, local contractor that cares about their customers, their neighborhood, and their reputation. Do not hesitate to get a quote from them for any of your HVAC needs.
Longer version: Our central AC died right at the start of a humid mid-to-high 90’s heat wave in July 2024. We were sticky, overheated, and generally miserable. Jason did everything in his power to fix that as quickly and effectively as possible, all while clearly explaining our options, providing us with documentation and environmental ratings for equipment, and generally being a trustworthy, transparent contractor putting his potential clients at ease and patiently waiting while we weighed our options on whether to just replace the central A/C unit, or go with a more efficient matched system, also replacing the aging, inefficient furnace. If you are someone who appreciates timely, accurate, informative responses to questions, either by electronic communication or telephone or in person, Jason is your guy. I always felt completely informed and at ease that, first, our questions were being answered competently and comprehensively, and second, that the work was being done in an efficient, effective, transparent manner. He was respectful of our home and items in it, and endeavored to do the work with no disruption or effect on existing architecture.
Jason never pushed more expensive solutions (in fact, the AC unit we went with was smaller, cheaper, and more appropriately sized for our residence than the one I would’ve probably defaulted to on my own). After we made our decision on an efficient matched system (two days before Jason was scheduled to replace the AC unit) he showed up on time and stayed until the AC unit was running and cooling the house (a 10-hour+ day!), and then finished the less time-sensitive furnace work the following day.
If you want the approach of dealing with an upselling, cookie-cutter solution-peddling, unknowledgeable salesman showing up and pitching you an overpriced system, to be installed by a new tech, who only started at the company last week, BY ALL MEANS go ahead and work with one of the big companies with massive advertising budgets. BUT, if you’d rather have the RIGHT system for YOUR home installed COMPETENTLY and CORRECTLY, I give my full-throated recommendation to Northern Lights...
Read moreAfter talking to several different companies, I decided to work with Northern Lights Heating and Air and could not be happier. Jason helped with a number of projects including installing a mini split and bathroom exhaust fan and was very patient in answering my questions and going through the various options. He was also the only HVAC technician I talked to who could install the bathroom exhaust vent on the roof so I didn’t have to also coordinate with a roofing company for that piece of the work. In addition, he was able to offer multiple different brand options for the mini split so I could get the one that worked best for the space (I decided to go with a floor mount vs. wall mount which some companies did not offer). Overall, I would highly recommend Northern Lights Heating and Air and would not hesitate to work with Jason again...
Read moreI found out about Jason and his company Northern Lights Heating and Air through my nephew. He was currently using Jason with his own furnace installation. I already had two quotes and figured why not one more. Jason came out on a Saturday to quote me on a Heat Pump and 97% High Efficiency Furnace. While he was checking my 23 year old furnace to get information he noticed the blower motor was hanging out of position and found several screws had fallen out due to vibration. He took the time to fix my problem. He sent me his quote with three options and the various rebates. Right from the start I saw the service would not be an issue and I was not disappointed. Jason answered all my questions and pointed out things that I did not think to ask. It is too bad there is not a 6...
