This is one of my favourite places in Gainesville. Lake Alice, it's gator, and the bat house- these are Gainesville's traditional things. If you don't see these, you havenot seen Gainesville yet.

This place becomes lively at the end of day, at evening. People come with family to see wildlife. Specifically, the bridge at Lake Alice is most favourite to children. You can see different kinds of the birds returning to their nests at lake Alice's island. You can watch bats outgoing path from this place. Large fishes, turtles come to amuse you. If you are lucky enough, you can watch alligator near to bridge. Sometimes, they are seen busking at shore. No wonder why this place is so attractive to Gainesville people.

I've recently had some serious concerns about the way the area is being managed- encroachment of agriculture on the field near the bat houses means less space for the tremendous variety of pollinators that live there, too early mowing of the wildflowers in that field also impacted the pollinators , and construction of a traffic circle cut into a nicely shaped pond by the Baughman Center- ruining the appearance and making it currently unsuitable for photography.
