In North Carolina the Blue Ridge Parkway runs from Milepost 217 at the Virginia border and ends at Milepost 469 near the entrance to Great Smoky Mountains National Park. Along these 252 miles are numerous overlooks offering stunning mountain views. There are tunnels, curves, and the spectacular Linn Cove Viaduct. It truly is one of best and most beautiful drives.

Definitely worth the time exploring and seeing the sites along the Parkway run by the National Park Service! Plenty of overlooks and trails to hike at a different locations. Definitely recommend downloading the National Park Service map, which can be used on most smart phones or tablets to identify location and milemarkers.

FYI: it gets very crowded here in the fall. Lots of traffic. Leaves are beautiful. But if you want quiet and solitude. Don't go in the fall.
