My wife and I were just travelling down Rt. 35 heading home to Charlotte from Ohio when we decided to get off at the Gallipolis exit to see downtown. We were very pleasantly surprised. It has probably one of the nicest riverfront downtowns along the Ohio. A beautiful park with trees and bandstand is surrounded on three sides by quaint downtown buildings. Along the river side of the park are swinging benches and picnic tables overlooking the Ohio river. Definitely worth a visit. And I learned about O. O. McIntyre who is buried in Gallipolis and was a very well known New York City newspaper columnist back in the 20's and 30's. ...
Read moreChristmas lights this year was phenomenal, the whole area was lit up with every color light and there were plenty of trees in memory of people down by the river that honored them and shined bright and beautiful for the ones they've loss. The photos don't do it justice, it's so beautiful in person and extremely well lit and decorated all around. Definitely on the top tier list of places to go for Christmas lights and displays, every single tree is lit up with lights. Very beautiful during the day but even better at night to see how much dedication and details were put into all of the lights and trees and decorations...
