Waterman's Marina — Attraction in Galveston

So. First off, this is a mixed rating. The food was interesting, somewhere between tasty and strange, and the staff were nice, but judgmental. I had a crab cake. It was $30. It was weird. It was one big lump resembling cat paté food. When you broke it open, it kind of reminded me of the filleted cat food instead. And yet, it was almost tasty. I don't remember the rest of the meal, that's how amazing that was for me. The VIEW was AMAZING!!! We sat outside, in a little corner near the pier. It was sunset. We were the only two out there after it was chilly and rained all day, but warmed up nicely by the time we got there. The lady who sat us was amazing. So, sweet and welcoming. Amazed that we had booked an outside table with rain in the forecast, she accepted our good fortune graciously when we got outside and it was absolutely BEAUTIFUL on the enclosed deck. The waitress, was not so gracious. She, while keeping a smile on her face, let us know we didn't belong there. (We had never been and were a tad under dressed.) She made no attempt to hide the passive aggressive behavior of contempt that we had dared come there, on Valentine's Day no else, in inappropriate attire. Oops, my b. I can't even begin to say enough about this place. After a very disappointing start to dinner the first night of our vacation we decided to give Waterman's a shot. Upon first appearance I absolutely loved the place to begin with, the scenery at the docks makes it a great dinner time back drop.

We ordered Calamari to make up for the atrocious appetizer the night before and this one didn't disappoint, we loved the take on the marinara sauce. All of our meals were appealing visual from the moment they were sat down. I went with the recommended tripe from the waiter and it was phenomenal! It was deconstructed with stuffed crab and seasonal veggies and couldn't have been better, even my 11month old loved every bit of it.

Absolutely terrible experience, even though it was a holiday weekend, we ordered before they got busy, they were extremely unprepared and understaffed. It took almost 20 minutes to get our first round of drinks when there was only 3 other tables. Ehen we finally got our food, lots of things were incorrect, we never got most of our sides and to compensate for it they only gave SOME of us a 10 percent discount which did not even come close to what most of us didnt get.
