Currahee is a Native American word meaning "Stands Alone" and it did just that until the US Army made use of it for training purposes for its paratroopers. Instead of a trail, this mountain features a gravel dirt road leading to a power station at the top. There is a rock ledge with a pretty good view, making it worth your while. Like myself, many folks come here to take on the challenge of walking up while others prefer letting their vehicles do all that work instead.
For those choosing to hike, the first half or two thirds is moderately easy. The total length of the road is just under a mile but that last stretch is a real killer! I'm quite proud of the many locals who bring their dogs and make it look so easy. The dogs definitely deserve an award! Bring a water bottle or two...you're really going to want it upon...

Only down side is that this trail is pretty historical so there is a lot of car traffic so if you decide to hike …you may not feel as out in nature but overall it is truly remarkable! I feel empowered just to be on the grounds where col.sink trained his men.
