Lockerly Arboretum — Attraction in Georgia

One of the most beautiful places in the Milledgeville area. I took a guided tour of Rose Hall when I was a college student. It is a magnificent antebellum mansion, filled with rich history and adorned by picturesque gardens, trails, and a small pond. Amazing stop! Truly a hidden gem. We stopped here on our way from Savannah to Atlanta for a picnic, and upon arriving, asked this sweet woman in a golf cart where the picnic area was. She offered to drive us from the parking lot to the picnic area in her golf cart, explaining the history of the place and how they have trees from all over the world along the ride. What a lovely historical place, with even lovelier folks running it. Our tour guide Ellen was friendly and has a true passion, and the owner was extremely gracious to us as well.
