The Purdy Bridge holds views of Henderson Bay and also named the “The Spit” where the Local Boys Farmers Market/Local Tap room reside and it is one of the most beautiful places I’ve ever witnessed. Driving out each day, I am blessed to take in the view and say good morning to the sunshine and even grey area in the colder months. I take this with me before I begin my routine. When I return home and say good evening the tides have come in like a thick blanket to close the day in with it’s beautiful sunset, and I am reminded that this holds some amazing sunsets and will keep me guessing each day forward. Mossimos restaurant has beautiful dining in and out to view it as well. People pile up in car loads to see this place quite frequently. Even a quick stop to pull over is fine, but just as beautiful as this place is, it is also dangerous. I plead with many visitors to use caution on this road day and night, as the sun is strong and vision can be impaired. Please wear something that is visible and realize that people need to drive this route as it is a simple narrow-road-as well. Dim days and night people wearing grey and black blend in with the road and you are INVISIBLE. Do not be careless. People have died on this road and at no fault. As of late, I’m concerned with the stench we’ve had lately. It’s not always like this. 🧐 Enjoy. Be wise, considerate...
Read moreThe Purdy Spit offers one of the most gorgeous views in Gig Harbor with Henderson Bay in the forefront and Burley Lagoon at your six. Enjoy the occasional fishbowl, plenty of ducks, seagulls, herons, seldom an eagle, and other sea life. Fishermen often cast along the pebble beach, and kayakers and boaters take advantage of the calm waters when the tide is in. Sunsets are particularly gorgeous the farther east one parks toward the Purdy Bridge. The north side of the spit is private land where clam diggers are frequently spotted with their headlamps at the night’s low tide. Enjoy a three-quarter mile beach stroll, take the kids clam digging, swimming, rock skipping or searching for sand dollars, or spot up in the back of your pickup with your significant other on a clear night for a stunning...
Read moreNice place for a pit stop. There’s some sandy areas but mainly pebbles of beach. Certain areas have barnacles but most of it is smooth rock. I love snorkeling in the water because it’s clear when there aren’t any boats or seadoos. I saw a variety of fish, large crabs and other shellfish. You can swim out there without it being too deep. I wish it was further from the road. Listening to cars ruins the natural environment so you can’t totally escape. Regardless, the view is relaxing and the slight wind feels good...
