It's a dog park and can get overcrowded at times, so I'm sure you already have an idea of what that entails... Lot of toys despite the sign saying no dog toys. Dogs with choke collars despite the sign saying no choke collars. Dog fights. People chatting while their dog continuously humps/fights/whatever. So be prepared to have to push off or discipline other people's dogs. Overprotective people hitting or kicking your dog for running/playing/taking a toy that they shouldn't have brought in to begin with. People generally being aggressive to dogs that they don't like.
I'm not against dog parks at all, we really like the Dupage Co ones that aren't as crowded. But a percentage of people approach this like a place for the dog to go play while they socialize, rather than approaching it like you would with your kid at a park. I mean you wouldn't go to a park and let your kid run around humping and fighting other kids for 30 mins would you? So why your dog? It's ashamed because we met some great people (and pooches) here but our dog was picking up too many bad habits and you're more likely to get a kidney from some of the people before getting their...
Read moreThe best dog park around. I have a pass for the Dupage County dog parks and I do enjoy Hawk Hallow, but they are a tad far for me. Spring Ave Dog Park is a great place for your dogs to play and meet amazing dogs and their families. Not to many kids under 5 which is great. My dogs are not around kids to much and my big boy likes to run into them and knock them down. They have a couple obstacles for the dogs for a little training and an open grassy yard that the dogs enjoy. Several shady spots for them to rest and a great water fountain for them to get a good drink in. If i could change one thing and hopefully they are listening I would love a paved path around the park so we could walk on pavement vs the grass less chance of stepping in poop and better on your ankles. They have plenty of bags and of course their are people who do not pick up their dogs mess but the majority of the time they do. I have never been there and had mounds of mess everywhere. This park is worth the membership. Employees are friendly too, although only have to see them once a year for...
Read moreIt's a good place to take my dog because he has a lot of energy, but if you don't want other dogs to get close to yours to play, please don't take your dog and stay home with him, you won't be able to avoid that. Because that's what life is about, go to the park to play like children, because dogs tend to approach each other, that's why you have to be careful that they don't attack each other and everything will be perfect, I hate those people who shouldn't have dogs if you don't want another one to approach. I love my dog so much that if someone tries to kick him out I will be watching him and with a look I will tell him not to try that he is a good dog and I do not allow those gestures of empathy.BE KIND...
