I took some friends because we used to go all the time as kids and whenni first had my kids, so it's been 18 yrs since my last visit. We ended up going to the air and space museum on peterson instead. This place is now 98% gift shop, with simple wall hamgings to read the history, still good. But not what entertained anyone for more than 15 minutes. The theatre was shut down too. It's literally just one big open room with the gift shop. So for those that couldn't make it due to the visiting restrictions.... you didn't miss out on anything . It used to have so much more display items, interactive pieces and volunteers to guide and greet you. I do not recommend unless you like reading text and pictures on the wall, which you could do from home. Now i understand why schools dont do their field trips...

The hours of admittance are very inconvenient for civilians. I understand that there needs to be guidelines and rules. But, there could be or should be for extenuating circumstances. My niece is a cadet at the academy. She had made arrangements with her parents for a long weekend visit. I was to pick her up at 7:00am and drive her to Ft. Morgan where she was to meet her dad. When I got there, I was told that I could not enter till 9:00am. I mentioned to the guard that the sign inside academy grounds stated hours of 0530am to 2200pm. He said that that is only for academy personal. Hours need to be relaxed for extenuating circumstances to accommodate these types of situations. Be more flexible and...

I've only been once but we were lucky enough to see the falcons and their handlers while we were there! I didn't hydrate enough and got altitude sickness after climbing the stairs to the Visitor Center but fortunately, there's a short video about cadet life that I was able to watch, and after drinking lots of water and sitting for a while, I was able to enjoy the sights. The campus is beautiful and one of the buildings near the Chapel - The Center for Character and Leadership Development - is shaped like the tail fin of a B-52. You can see it and the spires of the Chapel in one of the pictures I've uploaded. In my opinion, it's a must-see place...

The Visitor Center and Gift Shop are combined in one building and very well done. Everything is neat, clean and well organized, as is to be expected from a military facility. The informational displays about the Academy are well presented and very educational. The Gift Shop has a large variety of items ranging from inexpensive to very expensive. I was delighted to find a "penny smasher" inside as well. On a side note, The trail to the Cadet Chapel can be a challenge if you have difficulty walking or other difficulties. The attendant at the reception desk can give you driving directions for that. Overall, a wonderful experience.

I was shopping at BX first and did not realize there was a visitor center shop!!! Wow! Way more & amazing stock w/much more variety. I was able to find something for my whole family! A little pricey on high quality name brand items but they do offer 20% military discount! Much more selection on souvenirs like key chains & water bottles etc. Highly recommended stopping in and seeing the short Cadet video. Staff is all so helpful & friendly.

It is a great place to learn about the history of the Air Force and the Academy. The building was easy to enter for the young and the elderly, and also for wheelchairs. You can get a great view of the mountains and the area close to Colorado Springs. There is a beautiful showcase with a Bible scroll from the Holocaust as well as information about a 3D cast of Jesus. Also, memorabilia, you can purchase to remember you visit.
