I thought this was a nice rest area, very pretty! Grizzly Creek is within Glenwood Canyon and right on the river and the path through the canyon that originates in Glenwood Springs.
There are picnic benches, lots of trash cans, a nice bathroom area, and lots of informational signs. We're returning home to Utah after a trip to Denver and my gf needed a nap, so we stopped here. The path and signs gave me a lot do while she napped so I wasn't restless. I found 3 different kinds of butterfly, a dipper bird that I watched in the creek for a while, and enjoyed the scenery by the river.
This is a great spot if you have dogs, lots of dog bag stations, and lots of places to stretch legs (2 or 4, or 3 for our tripod furry friends).
Also, don't listen to Google when trying to exit westbound because it will send you a few miles east to the Hanging Lake area and have turn around. Tim at Hanging Lake informed us there really is a westbound exit at Grizzly Creek, but...
Read moreAlthough this rest area has a nice trail on the river it is not peaceful for trying to sleep for a few hours. I'm in a commercial cargo van and just wanted to sleep for 5 hrs after driving all day.. so I stop at the this rest area on my route after midnight..at first it seemed quiet but then I noticed a van with all doors open ..no biggie they weren't loud but lil sus. Early morning (6am ish) however different story.. another white van is behind us now where the 18 wheelers park with all his doors wide open blasting loud music! Woke me up from finally sleeping. Where are the patrol officers that usually frequent the areas..none had been seen all morning. I stayed until after 9am and took a short walk without seeing any security at all. People are staying here for more than just a overnight stay and it is not quiet! Rude people ruin...

The bathrooms were far enough from the parking lot that it was difficult for my family member to walk there with the cane they use to walk. It's possible the second parking lot was farther from the building, however from the building when I excited it was still far enough that I think it's difficult for some less able bodied folks.
The rest stop itself was well maintained. There wasn't a lot that I thought seemed super special about the view. It was pretty, but Colorado is pretty so it wasn't like blowing me away.
I think my favorite bit though, was a bench that had bricks underneath it. Each brick had the name of someone who had died doing roadwork in Colorado on the highways. I thought that was a...
