This place has a system of reservations to enter the park, for camping and this is all through a government website. We couldn't get in as everything is by reservation even though it is a national park and your America the Beautiful pass doesn't work there. This is confusing to say the least when you want to visit a park. We have noticed this in Colorado more than anywhere else we have been. Moral of the story drop what you are doing and jump in their website to make reservations for all your needs at this park then come and visit. Maybe next time we will post something entertaining plus pictures. We love National Parks but this is confusing...

As of spring 2025: About 1/4 mile from the trailhead, there is a short fence with a trail closed sign, but it seems like more of a suggestion so pass it at your own risk. From there, the trail is in relatively good shape until about 1.5 miles in where there is another fence with a more serious trail closed sign that says keep out. It looks like the trail is pretty rough after that point, between that and the sign I turned around there. Despite the closure, there are still many wonderful views of the cliffs on both sides of the gorge to be had along the way. Definitely...

Absolutely gorgeous trail. We initially went to the Jess Weaver trail, but there was no parking so we chose this one instead. There was plenty of parking right by the trail. The trail itself was beautiful and it wasn’t very crowded at all. We did go on a weekday, so I can’t say what it looks like on the weekend. It was a fairly easy trail, just a bit rocky in some places but our two dogs, one older and one just a year old, did just fine. Everyone on the trail was friendly and it was...

A lovely walk! There weren't any particularly long hard sections of trail. The edge is occasionally steep. I would recommend this trail for 8+ ages because of those occasional steep drop offs that go straight into the river. A couple of parts are very narrow and a bit overgrown. It is possible for the water to wash out the trail in a couple of parts. Luckily when I went in July I could walk the whole length without seeing water cross the trail path.

Okay this place might be a trailhead but its also a rest stop. I was pleasantly surprised when I stopped here. Not only was it beautiful and clean, but it was along the river where you can get in the water with your dog. Great place to stop and have a snack and relax. Grab a blanket and lay in the grass. Right now there's construction on the freeway at this exit, so get off the freeway and take a break. You won't regret it.
