Niles Beach — Attraction in Gloucester

Parking is for residents only so you may need to bike here during the season. off season, they don't seem to mind as much. It's a beautiful beach with protected waters even on stormy days. The bottom visibility is 5 to 10 feet if your attempting free diving. At least it was in the end of October 2020. Seagrass, muddy sediments crabs, starfish at 10 to 20 feet. This is the best place to come sit even if it's just parked in your car! The only place that you will get a skyline view of Boston... and the sunsets are just gorgeous... add in the sound and smell of the ocean and why would you want to be anywhere else... I'll be honest, it's not a beach I go to for swimming, I prefer big waves, but it's a great beach if you have small children (easy to keep an eye on them), or just to hang out and enjoy...

Public, yes. Beach parking is scarce on Cape Ann & many lots are for residents only. The entire parking/beach pass system here is complicated and pricey. Here parking is limited to vehicles with a City of Gloucester Beach sticker, but you can walk on or arrive by bike, no problem. We only stopped briefly to consult map. Looks nice, not a large beach.
