This is a great trailhead for a variety of hikes as well as a nice picnic area. You can stay on the parking lot side of Belcher Hill Rd to depart on Rawhide Loop or cross the street to take off on Sawmill Trail. Either way you are rewarded with a combination of open meadows that give way to shady forested areas. Looking east you can look down on the plains and Denver or climb Belcher Hill and see the already snow capped Mt. Evans in early October as this is written.

I wanted to try the Rawhide Trail with my dog, Norah. We parked at the West Trailhead, hiked down the Belcher Hill Trail to catch the Rawhide Trail. Note to all future hikers-the Rawhide Trail is a loop that will take you through a valley, evergreens, and aspens. Beautiful! The trail is well traveled with signage. We will definitely be back.

White ranch is my favorite park but it is being loved to death. Parking always difficult. Many trails deeply gutted (above my waist in places) and V shaped from Mtn Bikes making walking difficult or even impossible to stay on the trail in certain spots. Fantastic views. Lots of wildlife for those who take the...
