Great dog friendly stop! We got lunch at T Walkers (yum) then ate our carry out at the museum picnic tables. The lady working there was super friendly and gave us a magazine with all the Gothenburg historical info. She also had some treats for our dogs :) This was a great road trip stop to get a flavor for one of the towns you're driving through. Our dogs say five stars for their first visit to a museum! It was also cool to go inside the sod house replica and learn a bit about the pony express.

Don't miss this amazing part of American (and Native American) history. The docent there is part of a long lineage and had so much information. There were also local products, including honey from an FFA student. It really touched us deeply. The house had some damage from huge wind storms and rain, but still stands as a testament to tenacity. This sort of thing is why we wanted to drive across the United States.

Interesting place. Walked around outside of everything as it was closed. The horse and rider statue/sculpture looked real at first until we got closer. The buffalo was pretty neat and made of wire springs. Nice place to sit on picnic tables in the evening. Sod house looked like it was slowly disintegrating.

Handy to visit from Interstate 80 at a spot with a gas station and a coffee shop too, and shady trees and picnic tables. Loved taking pix with my daughter and grandson posing by the covered wagon, barn, sod house, and bison & horse sculptures. Eager to return when the museum is open! Makes me appreciate our modern conveniences to be reminded of how rough some people had it and still do in similar...
