I recently participated in the haunted ATV tour at "New Camp" with a group of friends this past Friday, and I must say, our excitement was quickly overshadowed by disappointment. The promotional footage we had seen, particularly the flashy videos from influencers on Instagram, set high expectations that were unfortunately not met.
To start, we drove 1.5 hours each way, eager for what we thought would be a thrilling and unique experience. Instead, it felt like we had fallen into a tourist trap. For $200, I expected something memorable, but what we got was the most terrible ATVing experience I’ve ever had, leaving us feeling ripped off. If I could give zero stars, I would.
We were instructed to arrive early at 8:15 PM, but ended up waiting in the parking lot until 8:35 PM, followed by more waiting inside. We didn’t actually get on the ATVs until 9:35 PM, despite the tour being advertised as a 90-minute ride starting at 9 PM. When we finally began, there was very little in the way of scares; the so-called "zombies" attempting to frighten us were hardly effective, especially since we could see them trying to scare the ATV ahead of us. My husband thought this was just a warm-up, but unfortunately, that was not the case. After just 10 minutes of mild theatrics, we spent the next 25-30 minutes riding through dusty farmland. The equipment was old, so much so that I still had a bunch of dust blowing through the mask and into my eyes while riding. We had a 5-10mins break during this uneventful stretch and headed back on the long dusty road. Honestly, my neighbor's haunted house is scarier!
The final scare involved locking us in a container with loud banging noises, which was more annoying than frightening. The scariest part of the night was actually trying to find our way out of the venue, as there were no lights or signs to guide us. It felt like once they had our money, they were done with us.
Additionally, the zombie masks looked cheap and unconvincing. For the price of admission, I expected better production quality. But instead it was a more homemade production. If they had marketed it as a simple 45-minute night ride, I would have considered it worth at most $60.
One concerning aspect that left me feeling uneasy was the process of signing waivers. While I understand that waivers are standard for ATV riding, they also took photocopies of our driver’s licenses and credit cards, despite already having our payment information on file. They claimed this was to cover any potential damages to the ATV, but it raised a lot of questions for me—especially since we never saw them check the ATVs after our ride and just gave it to the next group right after nor did they shred the copies as they told me they would. As a passenger, I felt uncomfortable having my ID and credit card information in their possession, and I believe this should have been disclosed before booking. I’ll be monitoring my credit card and credit score closely in the coming months.
Lastly, I suspect that the abundance of positive reviews stems from the pressure they put on customers to leave five-star ratings in exchange for footage of their rides. While the staff were polite on the surface, it was evident that there was some behind-the-scenes rudeness, as they were speaking about us in Spanish.
In summary, I would advise potential customers to save their money and think twice before booking with South Florida Off Road Tours. This experience was a complete letdown and not worth the...
Read moreI can’t say enough good things about the ATV tour we went on—it was hands down one of the highlights of our trip! From the moment we arrived, everything was well-organized and smooth, and the experience only got better from there. Our guides, Gabriel, bryan and ernesto, , were absolutely fantastic. They were super welcoming and personable, and you could tell right away that they genuinely enjoy what they do.
Before we hit the trails, they gave a thorough safety briefing and made sure everyone felt confident and comfortable with their ATV, regardless of skill level. Their instructions were clear, and they were patient with anyone who needed a bit more guidance. Once we got going, the real fun began. The trails were an awesome mix of scenic routes, rugged terrain, and just enough adrenaline-pumping moments to keep things exciting without feeling overwhelming.
Gabriel and Nick kept the energy high the entire time. They were cracking jokes, pointing out interesting spots along the way, and making sure no one was left behind. You could tell they were watching out for the group while still giving us the freedom to enjoy the ride. They even stopped at a couple of great lookout points where we could take photos, catch our breath, and soak in the views.
What really stood out was how much effort they put into making sure everyone had a good time. Whether it was your first time on an ATV or you were more experienced, they tailored the experience so it felt personal and memorable. They struck the perfect balance of fun, professionalism, and local charm.
If you’re considering an ATV tour, this is the one to go for—and if you get Gabriel and Nick as your guides, you’re in for an unforgettable adventure. Would absolutely...
