Pinnacle Peak is a fantastic hike that really packs a lot into a relatively short distance. The trail climbs steadily and offers beautiful views along the way, and once you near the top, you’re rewarded with a bit of adventure. The final section requires a scramble to reach the true summit. It’s definitely fun, but it comes with some risk—there’s loose rock, and the trail up there isn’t officially maintained, so it’s best suited for hikers who are comfortable with hands-on terrain.

Wildlife made the hike even better—I saw quite a few pikas darting among the rocks, which was a real highlight. I stopped near the summit for lunch, and it was the perfect spot to relax and take in the surrounding peaks and valleys.

Overall, Pinnacle Peak is an excellent hike if you’re looking for something moderately challenging with a bit of a thrill at the top. Just proceed with caution on the scramble, and you’ll be rewarded with great views and a...

Spectacular short but challenging hike that I've added to my favorite list and will come back annually. It's only 3 miles but with 1000' of elevation gain and some technical scrambling at the end, it's a fun workout! The hike starts at Refection Lake, which is gorgeous itself, and you're fully exposed on this hike so be sure to wear sunscreen or cover up. Challenges include steep climbs, loose rocks, and buggy conditions – so, wear boots and bring bug spray. The trail is in fantastic condition and the views of Rainier and the unique rocky terrain along the way are breathtaking. Be sure to stop by both Inspiration Point and Narada Falls on your way home, as you'll pass them both on your drive. Neither require hiking, both worth the...

The trailhead starts across from the reflection lake parking. Very rocky trail towards the end. As you turn left at the end, the trail is not maintained and was pretty risky so we didn’t go further to be safe. Some folks were going right to another summit peak....
