Went for one night with a buddy to do some fishing. Marina is still rebuilding from hurricane Ida so I'm happy they are open and being able to supply services. Staff is very friendly, makes you feel like you are visiting family in their home. They have a beautiful deck to enjoy the sunsets and a nice pier with lights. They had construction going on at the time of my visit with no live bait yet and the bar wasn't open but plenty of adult beverages in the store, but with only 8 months after Ida that's expected. Store is very well stocked and priced very fairly. They aren't scalping prices at all. A very nice place for a fishing weekend. The reason for 4 stars rather than 5 was the parking situation can be very tight if the marina is busy with trucks and trailers trying to park. Also I stayed in the hotel and although the hotel is adequate for a place to lay my head before fishing the next day the room was very basic, more basic than I expected for a marina room, the pillows were old and flat, towels were very used (but clean) and the bathroom could use a better cleaning. Overall I would stay here again and recommend for a fishing trip but if you are looking for a "nice" hotel stay or "vacation" room I would recommend looking...
Read moreWhat a horrible weekend at this place. I have stayed here many many times. Well when we came down this time and called to have our keys put in the room they said that they don't have any record of us reserving the room and didn't have any rooms available. We had a confirmation email showing that we reserved it and that the money was taken out of our account already. It took an act of congress but we got a room. We got in the room and only 2 burners worked on the stove. I fixed it because they wouldn't come because they said that it worked! I turned the TV on and the TV wouldn't work. They said they were coming up. That was Friday and still no one by Sunday! The fridge wasn't cooling so I unplugged it and plugged it back in and the compressor kicked on (had to do this over and over for 3 days)! Here is the icing on the cake!! We all showered Friday night and put our towels outside around 7 Saturday morning. We'll we came back around 9 Saturday night and our dirty towels were still outside and no clean ones were put in our room and no one would...
Read moreOlder fishing marina with quite a bit of activity considering the current times. Great friendly & helpful people here. They have a deli for breakfast, lunch & dinner open except Tues & Wed. Marina store has enough simple choices to keep you satisfied with snacks etc. Marine ship supplies & fishing supplies are okay also. They have a big fresh bait area, fuel (diesel $2.30 gal as of 7/28/20) & gas as well as ice. Restrooms & showers if you need to use them. Dock fee $25 a night no power or $75 a night with power. If you need to go to get groceries they can arrange for a lady to pick you up & bring you to town.
There are big ships & shrimp boats that come in and out but the swells aren't that bad at all. Local charter fishing boats are available for hire if you desire one.
We would definitely come back here. We stayed 2 nights and recommend them!
Thank you Stacey & Doug! s/v MUVFASTA (38'...
