I visited multiple meaderies before, so once I heard about this place I went here immediately. This is a rather small meadery located on a farm. They have their own apiary, which makes it fully local production. A very small room is available inside the building and then there's some outdoor seating available next to their disc golf course. We had a chat with the owners of the place, and they were extremely friendly and answered all our questions about production in details.
For this review I tried all 16 meads they had on tap. Be careful trying to do the same in one go, as meads are usually around 12% ABV. There were very few meads that I did not like, the majority was solid and had a deep taste. My favorites were Freya's Potion and Odin's Sacrifice, they stood out due to their distinct rich profile. If you're not into meads, they also serve wines of their production.
Daggers Meadery definitely deserves a separate trip to visit and I will recommend...
Read moreGreat day at the meadery,we played nine holes of disc golf on their new course, and it was really nicely laid out ( thank you, Tim). The staff are friendly and helpful. If you want to try discgolf and maybe sample some delicious mead after your outing,it's there, and the flights are a wonderful way to try an age-old concoction of honey, water and in some cases various fruits to provide a wonderful spectrum of flavors . You can rent basic discs, a driver, fairway, and putter ,and this is inexpensive $7.00 per round. It's an easy way to get your feet wet in a new and blossoming family sport. Bring a Pic nic they have tables, fire pits, and corn hole yard games, all in a beautiful hilltop old orchard setting.
So check it out you won't be disappointed, my personal suggestion for sample is the "Granville Pear", crisp clean hint of sweet, great after...
Read moreA hidden gem in Granville! After a nice hike and picnic in Granville State Forest on a beautiful day, we Googled what else to do in the area. What a bonus that Daggers Meadery popped up (5 minutes away). They have so many varieties of meads we had to try both flights. The tasting barn has a beautiful rustic atmosphere. (If you’re into woodworking, notice the bar, the tables, the tongue and groove work.) And our host, Tammy was so interesting and informative. The owners are definitely passionate about what they do … from their beekeeping and mead making to the care of their farm and their customers. You’ll enjoy this...
