Posting for Greenfield Library- this is the worst library I've ever had to deal with. The space is great and most staff aside from a select few people are as well however the policies and rules are outrageous. They block accounts after fines of $4 occur which doesnt take much for that amount to occur because its $1 late fee per dvd and when they do block you, you cant renew any items you currently have checked out either. I've never been to a library that blocks an account for such a small amount, seems petty. They barred my account because my husband picked up items for me even when we were just in there not even 30 minutes before and nothing was said to us so we had to go back to get it removed because they were making me show ID before they would remove it. They were probably hoping it wouldn't get checked afterwards so they could occur more fines from me from the items that I couldn't renew from them barring it. And they definantly do not have a big selection, no new books to choose from everything is old and outdated unless you request something to be ordered and even if you do you can't put it on hold because its "new" so everyone else can get it before you even though you requested it and they wouldn't even have it if you hadn't. And everytime there is a new item you have to constantly check for availability because you can't put anything new on hold and even when items are available and you rush there they aren't on the floor and they can never find it in back so why does it say available then? be better to just rent from Redbox and pay the $1.75 because you will use twice that or more in gas back and forth trying to catch it actually being in which is what we do because by the time they remove it from being "new" which is like 4 months it's not even new anymore! Who wants to wait that long? All because you won't let people place holds! Such less hassle than...
Read moreGood selection of materials, friendly staff, and great programming for kids. I love that they have the Libby and Hoopla apps. I’ve taken my kids to toddler/baby story time and they absolutely love it! There’s a really cool little play area in the back of the children’s section with a rotating selection of toys and a clubhouse that kids can play in. Sometimes we go to the library and don’t even check anything out, we just spend an hour or so looking at the fish tank and playing.
Today we were there and both my kids started melting down at the same time… the children’s librarian came over and distracted the baby so I could calm the toddler down and get ready to go. A few months ago I was trying to get my library card renewed and my toddler was being really squirrelly. That same librarian came over and read a story book to my toddler for a few minutes so I was able to get my card renewed without being super stressed out. All of the staff have been super friendly and helpful but she just really went...
Read moreNice Library, however if your not a resudent of Hancock County, kids cannot play Xbox, or rent movies or books. Plainfield Library, I would rate 5 stars. They are accomodating to non-residents with the exception of obtaining a library card. In addition, you don't have to have a card to access movies, play Xbox, or use their computers. Due to circumstances, Greenfield is where I have to go on certain days, otherwise clearly I'd go to...
