Disappointing Screen Rental Experience at Legacy 9 My experience renting a screen at Legacy 9 for a private event was incredibly disappointing, culminating in both a significant movie error and an overcharge.
I initially contacted Legacy 9 on December 13th, 2024, to inquire about renting a screen for June 13th, 2025, to watch the original Friday the 13th. They promptly provided a quote for 25 people as requested. As the event date approached, I asked about accommodating additional guests. They were responsive, recalculating the quote and assuring me they would conduct a headcount and adjust charges accordingly on the night of the event.
However, on June 13th, 2025, the theater started playing the wrong movie. Instead of the 1980 original Friday the 13th, they showed the 2009 remake, which contains significantly more nudity and sexual content than anticipated. When I immediately brought this to the attention of the staff at the counter, I was met with an unhelpful response: "there was nothing they could do because that was the movie they had."
To make matters worse, despite only 25 guests attending, I was charged for 35 people. This overcharge, combined with the incorrect movie, significantly impacted my experience. To date, I have not received any follow-up or apology from Legacy 9, despite reaching out to the individual I had been emailing throughout the planning process. This lack of resolution and disregard for playing the incorrect film, along with the erroneous billing, is unacceptable.
Based on this experience, I would not recommend renting a screen...
Read moreI have been to this movie theater with my daughter Destin Sky, also known as Sky Dixon throughout the years of 2015 and 2016. We I brought her here a couple of times for us to hang out and watch a movie and take a break from work and school as I was a full-time single mother who worked hard and she was a very good well-mannered wonderful daughter who worked hard at school and any chance that we had to break away and enjoy something. That's what we tried to do this being one of those things! My previous experience is here. We're all well. We also met some friends up here before. Dana Calvert Huff and her husband derekuff and Dana's daughter Harley and the rest of their children and we hung out and watched a movie together. The concession stuff was always nice. We always had fresh food and drinks and things of that nature. I had no complaints about the previous experiences so I'm very eager to see how it is under new management. I have not been here since 2016 but I have seen some reviews and I'm sure that it can't be anything less than good or better so we shall see if I have time. I will be viewing a movie today. However I'm undecided at this point but it doesn't show my previous visits on my timelines for this movie theater but I have been here. I'm sure I have the dates down specifically in the movies, but good times. Good memories. I cherish...
Read moreWe've always appreciated having a local, reasonably priced movie theater. My family and I have frequented and enjoyed the Legacy for years. With that said - the last couple of times we've visited, things seem to be slowly going downhill...
The men's and women's rest rooms have had multiple toilets/urinals out of order with trash bags over and buckets underneath.
Our last visit was on Jan 1, 2025 (New Years Day). We went to see "Wicked" in theater number 7. During the previews, the screen seemed noticeably dim. When the movie actually started, the screen was so dim that at times we could barely make out anything on the screen. Everyone sitting around us was commenting to each other about the poor/dim picture. I got up and walked back to the concession stand to let them know there was a problem. I was told that there was nobody in the building who could do anything about it - but they could try to call someone. I returned to my seat. The movie was 2 hours 40 mins long, and in that time there was no improvement. As everyone walked out the theater, they were all commenting on the disappointing experience.
Not sure if we'll give Legacy another try or not. We'd like to continue supporting this local theater, but the lower admission prices mean nothing if we aren't able to see/enjoy the movie we're...
