The park is always lovely. The staff, rude and inconsiderate. Me and a friend met up yesterday with our dogs to have a play date. We arrived shortly after 4:15PM. On the website, it states that the park is open till 8:00PM so we were in no rush. Not 30 minutes after we arrived, an older gentleman walked by, did not say “hello” or state who he was; our dogs attempted to greet him but he did not even acknowledge their greeting. He then stated that, “The gates close at 5:00. We close at 5:00” and walked away. My friend and I checked the time and realized that we only had a limited amount of time until we were being forced to leave. We both frantically were looking up on our phones a different park that we could go to since we had just arrived here. At this point it was 5:00PM and the same gentlemen started yelling at us “WE ARE CLOSED!” From across the field. We of course responded, and told him we were trying to leave. He then persisted to yell at us 3 MORE TIMES as were scrambling to gather our things, and our dogs to leave the park. He then insisted on staring us down until we finally left the park. Needless to say, we were taken aback by how rude this gentleman was to us, especially after checking that the park does not close till 8:00PM. We are infuriated. We will not be returning any time soon, if ever after this in counter. I would suggest to change your hours online as well as recommend a hospitality class...

It is a beautifully designed garden that is perfect for families with small children. It has a vegetable garden for kids surrounded by 'vegetable benches' for kids. This has been designed with kids in mind. It also has a little amphitheater for kids. It is a place that can enhance the creative spirit within all of us. The park will be extended even further in the future, and I look forward to it. The visitor center is a fantastic LEED certified building. It is encouraging to see buildings designed with the environment in mind. However, when my kids tried to run around in the beautiful grassy area near the fountain we found geese droppings spread consistently over the entire area. It seemed to me that it was used as organic fertilizer. There was also a strong smell as you neared the fountain. Probably had something to do with LEED. That was the only downside to our experience today. But the rest of the park was great so, it didn't bother us too much. No pets are allowed in the kids areas. I'm grateful to the Greensboro Beautiful organization and the City of Greensboro for giving us this...

I had an event in the inside venue late 2021. The location and site are beautiful but the event staff (handled by Barber Park Event staff) was a very difficult & unprofessional experience. From the very beginning of trying to view the venue, to signing the contract and approving the layout/setup to getting the deposit back. Staff did not show up both times. I had to constantly call to let Barber Park staff know I was waiting at Gateway Gardens for someone to come meet me. I also had to contact the Parks & Recreation Director to intervene to get my deposit returned 2 months after the event was held. Beware! Staff needs to be trained and are very...

Great roadside stop with charm and comfort, worth a visit! I loved this place and everything it had to offer. It’s a free, peaceful roadside stop, perfect for stretching your legs, using clean bathrooms, and taking a short walk through a cute garden. The walk itself probably takes about 20–30 minutes, but I stopped to take photos and ended up chatting with other visitors, so I spent close to an hour there. There are lots of quirky objects and displays scattered throughout the garden, which made it even more enjoyable. I went on a weekend and it wasn’t crowded at all, just a lovely, relaxing break.

This Garden is more for people who wants a place to relax on the grass or kids to play in the kids garden. It's small with paved trail around the property. There are several entrances where you can walk in. A parking lot at the main entrance. I really like the children's garden. I have my pups with me and couldn't walk in to check it out. The children's Garden does not allow pets. Fortunately I was able to look in. It's the highlight of the Garden. The Fall Foliage is beautiful, and the ground workers are very friendly.
