This is my honest review from a former Lifeguard, Supervisor, American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor from New York. (WSI) I was really hoping that this place could offer something for "everyone" I live within a 5-minute walk from here in Greenwood. I was looking for a summer gym alternative and use the lap pool to stay in shape. how misled I was!!!!!! first off, the entire place is completely understaffed, undertrained and overcrowded. for starters, the lazy river requires the user to use the park provided flotation devices. the larger waterslide requires the use of the park issued flotation device. there is only one problem!!!!!! WHERE ARE THE FLOATS???? I waited for over an hour one day just for someone in the lazy river wading pool to let me use their raft. then 15 minutes later they closed the entire pool and asked everyone to get out so that the staff could swim in peace instead of doing a rotation system amongst the staff. (As a former Lifeguard I totally agree the guards should get time to cool off. but NOT at the paying customer's expense. They should have a rotation system where a lifeguard gets a 15-minute break every hour to cool off in the pool) secondly the "lap pool" is really nonexistent. I was really hoping to come to the pool for a relating swim after work before going home. BOY, WAS I WRONG!!!!! the "Lap pool" was just a spillover from the main area. I couldn't even lay quietly on the pool deck without getting splashed from the children's water guns. when I attempted to use the pool to cool off, I was met with children running and jumping/diving on the pool deck jumping into the pool in the shallow end nearly missing other kids and adults in the pool. I had a child jump over my head because apparently, I was standing in the way of where he was jumping into. If you are looking for an overcrowded, understaffed, undertrained with DISMAL regard to safety then you might not mind this place. Here are my observances now the choice is yours,...
Read moreI paid $18 per person for my friend and I to bring my 3 year old child here for an hour on a weeknight. 15 minutes of our visit was spent not swimming due to the break they gave the lifeguards. After paying $36 for two adults to take a child who can’t even swim yet, the cost/enjoyment breakdown has left a disgusting taste in my mouth considering I paid very close to $1/minute of time spent there actually in the water. I have family that live in Greenwood that I lived with growing up, but unless you show a Greenwood ID, they charge double($18) the entry fee price($9). Also they don’t allow children who are too short to ride the slides alone to instead ride them with an adult, which is commonplace at all the pools I’ve ever been to. My friend and I weren’t even able to try the slides because they closed them and never reopened them for the duration of our visit.
For example, Bryan Park Pool in Bloomington only charges $6 per person(3 and under is free)regardless of whether they are a local and parents can ride the slides with their children that aren’t tall enough yet to ride alone.
When I needed to use the restroom, I also noted that the floors in the bathroom had standing water in the stalls and didn’t seem to have good drainage around the toilets.
I believe the overall cost at Freedom Springs isn’t worth the amenities they offer, and they seem to be facilitating an exclusive environment by requiring ID to not pay $18 entry fee. If you’re able to find a public pool nearby I’d suggest trying...
Read moreThis place is Amazing 💚 They have reasonably priced concessions that include $3 walking tacos, $5 ChikFilA sandwich, Chicago's Pizza, Jimmy John's, and snowcones in a cup (they get confused as slushies). Life vests are available so no need to bring your own unless you want; we used our arm floaties to help identify which kids were ours in the sea of yellow vests 😂 being non-residents it was $27 to enter; you are allowed to exit and reenter as long as you get a stamp at the exit. Two lines for the slides in the stairs; Tube and non-tube, so makes it easier to establish which people are getting on which slide. 20 minute break around 3p. Playground on the outside looked like loads of fun too but we just went to the water area. They also have a nice hill for picnics (or sledding) and basketball courts. Around 1p it was a little difficult to get tubes especially doubles (thankfully the slide tubes are blue as to recognize which are which). Teenagers were inconsiderate but this is a fact we already know as all they care about is love (understandable) and the adults care about family so we gave up looking for doubles after awhile and just went to the pool next to the splash pad where a kid jumped next to my sister and baby nephew TWICE. All in all we had a...
