This is an old place, in terms of history. I was 'spoiled', in that the Guilford School was the second school I was able to attend and they would do field trips 'into' town, this was one of those places. One of my treasured memories is fishing with Tony Barrand (RIP, Mr. & Mrs. Barrand). I plan to bring a Buddy of mine to see the dam/waterfall, as I did forget this was 'in my backyard', so to speak, and they LOVE water. I hope this doesn't bring destructive tourists, but the caveat is, lots of people are gun owners, not everyone openly states it - DO NOT TRESPASS, be respectful, some folks out there don't play -AT ALL (some teachers lost pets around here to 'nefarious' neighbors). The thing about small towns, everyone gets to know everyone, but it doesn't mean they're exactly neighborly, but I still see people from all over (at times) and we still essentially say "Howdy neighbor", because everyone is a bike ride away from everyone else (we did a lot of 'mountain biking' as youth), there isn't too many places in town that we didn't hang out (sometimes party) but we were often just a bunch of latchkey kids trying to figure out life amongst the community and places we were told were home. Bring Your fishing license, camera and take pictures, leave nothing but memories, and think of how many 'kids' got to play here in the prime of their formative and 'innocent' years. I can think of at least 3 people that were here, and now aren't, and sometimes it is the Bittersweet memories that make me come home, if nothing else, to remember how it was, but time...

You can swim behind the waterfall on the dam which is pretty cool. There was a bit of trash down there which we took out with us but what a bummer. We went on a Saturday with passing showers and only saw a group or two of others. Would definitely come back with...
