I recently visited the Mountain View Vineyard on a 4th of July trip to the Poconos with friends. The vineyard was a scenic 30 minute drive from my stay in Long Pond and was easy to navigate on Apple Maps. Right from the entrance, the view of the vineyard is beautiful with lush greenery and mountain top views. You are also able to see the vineyards right away as they have them set up along the drive to the parking lot. They have an indoor restaurant and tasting room that my group made a reservation for. The building reminds me of an A-Frame cabin with wood accents and tables. It gave the vibes of casual and comfortable, almost like a camping trip. The staff was very welcoming and seated us right away. The restaurant has many different shareable options at a reasonable price. We ended up ordering the nachos, garlic knots, and pretzels, which were all great picks. I like the fact that a lot of the options were vegetarian or could be modified for vegans/vegetarians. We also ordered some wood fired pizza from the pizza station outside. They were 12 inch pies with 6 slices around $15. The pizzas were fresh and made with quality ingredients. The dough was a little too thick for my liking, but that's the standard I have coming from NY. Another issue I had were the flies that were swarming our table. It was like we were swatting more than actually enjoying our food. As per the drink part, we ended up ordering many different flights and drinks recommended by our waitress. This vineyard is also a brewery and distillery, so we had several options to choose from. There were various types of beers, wines, whiskies, bourbons, moonshines, and slushies. Their only rule when ordering a flight is that you have to stay in the same section for the type of drink. You can't mix and match wine and beer, for example. I won't speak on what other people ordered but I got a wine flight including a white, red, fruit, and bubbly. For my recommendation, get a Mountain Goat white, Strawberry wine, and the Split Rail Red. The Poppin Pearl from the sparkling section tasted like straight medicine, so maybe choose something else unless you really like the flavor of black currant. They have an indoor and outdoor section but it was way too hot to do anything outside. If I came during the fall season, I would definitely choose to sit outside on the upper section so I can enjoy my food and drink with a view. After we finished our meal, we walked outside where you can roam through the vineyards, sit under tents, and have your kids play in the playground area. There are also outdoor bars where you can order drinks and cocktails that seemed different than the ones on the menu inside. Overall, it was a great experience and I would certainly visit again! 5/5 stars!

Wine is great, beer is good, service staff and management is the worst of the worst. My fiancé and i sat at a table inside, 3 feet away from where the kitchen staff brought out all of the food and set it down on a table to be brought out by waiters. EVERY single plate of food sat on this table for a minimum of 10 minutes, we saw an appetizer of pretzels go out to a table after it sat for 35 minutes. The “food table” contained between 5 and 10 plates at any time, out in open, getting cold, as countless servers nonchalantly waked over to them and looked for a ticket with their name on it. We watched our own server look at our food sitting there, found no ticket and walked away. 15 minutes later we watched a man bring us the food we had been looking at for some time. The “supervisor” on duty, while he was bringing out more food than his co-workers, was of absolutely no use when we tried to voice our complaints, opinions, and recommendations. My fiancé and i have both worked in the food industry, and we frequent local businesses. This is our first time here, possibly it was a bad night, but the attitude and charisma of the service staff was extremely off putting, with the exception of the outdoor bartender who was exceptional. The “supervisor” claimed that they were understaffed. For the record it was 6:30 on a Saturday night when we ordered our food, there were some people there, but no line waiting outside, there was in my opinion a plethora of staff to accommodate the amount of tables, but again not a single one of them seemed very concerned with their guests. No urgency, accountability or empathy One of the worst experience experiences we have had with a business

Updated review: DEAR OWNER, Please be aware that it was the first time she approached us, I do not know if she is getting confused with another table but it was THE VERY FIRST TIME someone told us something about the drinks. And no, they did not go to the parking lot to refill drinks. My grandpa felt uncomfortable with her attitude and went to get air HE DOES NOT DRINK ALCOHOL at all, hes a 76 year old adult with health issues, it is not our fault that your staff assumed something. I do appreciate your response but be aware that those are false statements. Yesterday, I went with my grandparents and my boyfriend to the go topless Jeep event and it was hosted at this location. It was the first time we visited this place and we were unaware of it being a business. We drove two hours and bought some drinks that we brought on a cooler to stand the high temperature. We got there and realized it was a vineyard/brewery/ restaurant. It was lunch time so we purchased some food, each of us one plate and sat at one of the outdoor tables. We had some drinks on the cups, over an hour passed by and when we were done eating, one of the waitress came to our table SCREAMING at us ( HER NAME WAS TAYLOR) saying that it was illegal to bring outside drinks, took our drinks from our hands and threw them in the garbage. It was fine, we understood the rules and didn’t complain and stayed quiet, we were not planning on going against the rules. However, that was not a right way to approach a customer or any human being, she was extremely rude and loud. We were so embarrassed, my grandpa felt so bad at this girls attitude that decided to go for a walk and went to the car with my boyfriend to distract his mind for a little bit. This girl followed them to the car with another person, continued screaming, saying she was going to call the police on them and claimed that “4 staff members told us multiple times about the drinks “ which was false! She was the first one approaching us. Continued to scream to my Grandpas face who does not speak English, to end up saying that we needed to leave immediately and that she was going to escort them out. While the other lady stood in front of the car for no reason. My boyfriend did not want any trouble specially because we were with my grand parents who both are over 70 years old and said ok we’re leaving, I’m going to call them (my grandma and I) and she continued to scream saying he had to go get us, he continued calling me and she decided to go get us from the table, got there screaming saying we needed to leave immediately, saying she was going to get the police involved, etc. It has been the most HUMILIATING experience of my entire life. We only wanted to have fun with our grandparents since the weather was nice, we drove two hours only to be kicked out of a place where we were consuming. They both felt terrible and were embarrassed, literally everyone there witnessed everything. This was RACISM, we are Hispanic and were treated with so much hate and zero consideration, as if we were criminals, ZERO respect. I would not recommend this place if you’re simply NOT white or like to be treated...

The views at this winery are great. The wine is good. I’ve been a few times over the years as a local resident. This past weekend, though, I had an experience that makes me never want to return to this winery.

Our party made a reservation online for 6 people for the outer deck area. We were placed at a table directly in front of the band setup for their Road 2 Riverfest event. When the band started to play, you could not hear the person sitting next to you. The music was so loud you could actually feel it in your chest sitting at the table. I went inside to ask the servers if there was anyway that we could be moved to one of the other same-sized tables that were empty. I was told that “other people made reservations too and specifically requested those tables so there is no way that we can be moved to them”. I had no idea that you could “specifically request tables” as there was no section on the website to do so.

Our party was debating leaving because the music was so loud and there were apparently no other tables to sit at. One of my other party members asked again before we left, are you sure that there were no cancellations, we’d love to stay and give your our business if we can. The servers inside responded by rolling their eyes and audibly sighing in this party member’s face. It was actually uncomfortable to witness this. The whole time, our group had been polite and if there really were no open tables not directly in front of the band okay no problem, we will go elsewhere. There are plenty of other wineries on the mountain that we enjoy. To be met with outright attitude by the staff was actually pretty disappointing and gross to see.

What was never communicated to us by the staff (it took a fellow patron at the winery) is that the outer tables on the patio sections do not need a reservation. So we could’ve just been told that on the first ask about other table options and avoided any issues. We ended up taking one of those tables as far away from the music as we could and stayed for around 3 hours. The wine was okay. And those tables that were apparently “specifically asked for” by other people? Those tables remained open for our entire time at the winery. Literally no one sat at them once. I made a point of checking every so often just to see.

I don’t understand how a place can treat people disrespectfully to their face and hope to have those people come back. I’ve been to this winery multiple times but I will not be coming back. I will gladly go to the other winery...
