I would like to start by saying my wedding day was perfect in every way possible. The venue was what we needed it to be.I scheduled to pay my final fee for my wedding 2-3 months before the wedding as the contract states to do.I was on my way to the venue from Baton Rouge to Albany I received a text that looked like it wasn’t meant to be sent to me; whether it was a joke or not it was very unprofessional and racist. It has stuck with me since then and left me with a consistent reminder of what was said. We confronted Penny and she assured me and my fiancé that it was a joke. We didn’t want any bad feelings between anyone or during our special day so we hid our true feelings. With it being in the mist of Covid and I had no time to change venues - I made the very hard decision to continue on with the wedding being held even though deep down we didn’t feel welcome; everything was paid out, the wedding guest already received invitations and I couldn’t find another one on such short notice. The wedding day went by smoothly because our wedding day was more important . Penny went above and beyond to prove that the business and herself isn’t as racist as her actions have shown. I waited to see if my wedding pictures would be posted on social media as my proof to myself that maybe I’m wrong…she said they are LGBTQ friendly and not racist. It’s said that they have had plenty of LGBTQ weddings and they have, I went to one that wasn’t my wedding and their pictures weren’t posted as well, so it’s not as inclusive as it’s said to be. In the future I hope that Penny and Cedar Post Barn learn that words hurt and actions speak volumes. Show all of your beautiful weddings not just the Caucasian ones and one black one! Show Both brides or both grooms let your social media show how inclusive you claim to be to everyone! I debated for a while should I speak my truth and I decided to because My feelings are still hurt and I will...
Read moreI really wish there was a rating higher than 5 star, because this place DESERVES A 10 STAR!!!!! The Cedar Post Barn truly was an amazing place for my wedding. I was able to have the rustic country wedding I've always dreamed of having since I was a little girl. Not only was the barn just simply beautiful the staff was amazing and the owner Mrs. Penny truly helped make my day even more special. She has some decorations already at the barn she allows to be used, she helps direct your wedding and keep things from getting to crazy, she even works with you on helping you choose your date going over the little details making sure you don't forget anything. She kept me from losing my mind the day of my wedding as a bride I had so much on my mind. I planed my wedding on my own, and I had just lost my grandpaw not even a month before my wedding. Mrs. Penny and her staff was there to make sure that everything fell into place and took place at the right time just like it should have. She made sure everything was perfect!! Even allowed the children to feed the fish and baby alligator in her pond. I am so thankful I was scrolling on Facebook and saw this barn, I didn't care how far away it was. If you have a Facebook I highly suggest go check out there page!! The moment I saw this barn I knew I had to get married there, and I'm so glad that my husband and I did!! That sweet southern country simply but yet beautiful wedding happened!! Mrs. Penny I want to send a huge thank you for allowing my husband, family, friends and I to come and enjoy the perfect wedding I've always dreamed of...
Read moreWe were extremely excited to have found this venue. It was beautiful and Penny seemed so friendly and willing to help up until the day of the wedding. On the day of the wedding there were several showings of the property. This upset us as we spent a large portion of our budget on this venue alone for an entire day of rental. Had there been communication at all from Penny letting us know there would be people there most of the day things may have been different. Also, when I had our wedding planner speak to Penny about this situation she cursed at her and was extremely unprofessional. When I had met with Penny prior to the wedding she let me know how she lines the wedding party up and guides them on when to start walking. When it came to the day, after the confrontation with the wedding planner, she then made a comment to my wedding party that “normally she is in charge but not for this wedding” again extremely unprofessional. Ultimately she did end up assisting, however the comments were completely unnecessary and uncalled for. Over all the venue is gorgeous and our wedding was beautiful, I just wish on the day of our wedding there wasn’t such childish behavior from someone who was supposed to be the...
