Beautiful beach nice rolling waves, good for kids but beware. Upon arrival we noticed some strange winged creatures which could only be described as pterodactyl like, if not for its' unremarkable comparison in size of the scumbag foul. After we were settled in on the beach they decided to venture closer, the encounter being quite awkward from both sides. How do you say go away to an imbecile flock. Not wanting to feed a bunch of begging fiends on vacay as I do every other working day of my life I decided to throw a piece of seashell at one in attempts to subvert the advance of the opposition. This led to an attack on said seashell, the likes of which only matched by the lessons learned in the teachings of the Grand Masonic Lodge of Illuminati. As things go, one seashell led to another, and another, and about a 6 pack of non glass containers. Luckily for me, the local law enforcement was always within a stoner throw away had I warranted assistance during any point of our wonderful outting. They have a really great fenced in kids playground as well. Enjoy!

I’ve been going to this beach since I was born. Most of my family has grown up close by. I remember when the area was always busy with local and tourist foot and vehicle traffic but now it’s become fairly quiet. The city built a huge outdoor stage but rarely use it. It would be perfect for summer concerts and events but it hardly ever gets used so I feel like they should tear it down or utilize it more. The playground is great for the kids and the bathrooms and outdoor showers are convenient. The fishing pier is always busy in the summer and it’s nice that they have their own parking area. There’s plenty of grassy areas but again, they go mainly untouched. The sand is always clean and my kids have always had a great time on the beach! I just think it’s a missed opportunity that the city doesn’t book summer events more there, like nighttime movies for kids, reggae concerts, live performances. It’d be nice to have some local eateries there too, like a deli or ice cream shop or some gift shops and pizza places with outside eating/bar areas..

We went on purple flag day( jellyfish alert). The lifeguard was very nice to explain this to my son. We still ventured ahead and had a great time. He was able to meet a friendly kid an they had a blast together. The beach could use a little sprucing up but otherwise nice. There is also a playground on site but we did not get a chance to use it. There was a cop at the end of the night making the announcement that the beach was closing. However you can't really hear it. We only understood because we were leaving and walking in that direction. So if you see the cop at the end of the night it's time to get ready to leave. Have a great time. There was a green flag out this time. However my son and another little girl were stung by a jellyfish. So we gave some aid and ointment to the other family. Then I cleaned up my son and we left. Be careful everyone. I was told jellyfish are out until September when the water turns colder.

1st time ever at Buckroe Beach and was quite impressed with the setup. Looks like it's a good alternative then hitting VA Beach especially if you like easier swimming and smaller waves. Walking around they had a number of shelters and it seems you can reserve them as well. There were lots of family's having cookouts and playing games on the grass. Theres a bath house with bathrooms and some showers to rinse off. They also have a large observation pier with a number of tables under a Pavillion. I also saw a couple of volleyball ball games going on. Beach area seemed very clean in most area, we were on the beach near the fishing peir, but there weren't any trash cans around us. Really don't have any complaints about the area.. was a bit of of the wacky tobacky smell around, but going to be legal soon, so most places will probably be like that. We had a good family day, lots of sun and fun!

Buckroe Beach is a nice beach to go to when you don't want to travel all the way to VA beach. I will have to admit sometimes it can be a bit crowded but it's not a bad area. They have 2 outdoor showers connected to the restroom building and a nice playground for kids. Pavilions are located in the park area and there is a public pier you can go on however can not fish off of. There is another pier not to far that looks like you can fish from though (probably a fee involved). There are lifeguards on duty but looks like they are off duty about 5:30pm. The only 1 thing I wish was people would be a little more careful and pick up their trash in the park area. We did not visit during the weekend but a weekday it wasn't to busy. We have been here on the weekend and it can be crowded. There is free parking.

It's not as crowded, & it's totally family friendly. Clean & lovely. 10 months later & Buckroe Beach is changing. They have paddle boards, kayaks, & jet skis for rent. The entire sewer system is being re-done & they're bringingin new vendor trucks. Parking is still rough here but you can park down close neighborhood streets. There is a floating water park coming this summer as well. As long as the beach employee's & local law enforcement do their due diligence, it can be a wonderful place for families, couples, & everyone in between. They're are people that hang out there that look like they're up to no good, sorry, sad but true. There's a fenced park by the boardwalk for children with great slides, swings, & more. Also shower facilities with restrooms. All shells below I've found on Buckroe Beach!
