This area is an immersive experience with a towering rock wall and vibrant colors during the month of October.
You can get to Big Lyons falls by following the Lyons Falls trailhead (starting at the Mohican Bridge or Pleasant Hill Dam).
If you start your journey at Mohican Bridge, you walk along a gorge that was in the path of a recent tornado. Several huge trees were toppled and you can see the cavity where the roots were buried. The park crew did an excellent job clearing the trails. And, just before reaching the falls, there is a picturesque spot along the Mohican River that has some wondrous colors.

I love lots of elevation change and a good challenge and this hike does not disappoint - but there are also some options for the less vigorous hiker to still enjoy a more liesurly walk through the environment. Super gorgeous, super fun, and great exercise ❤️ can't wait to go back and do...

So even on a hot day you will not be hiking in the direct sun. But still bring water! There is no water located at the dam. There are latrines... but no...
