During my recent week-long visit to Newark, Ohio, we made the journey to Blackhand Gorge State Nature Preserve. It was truly a delightful experience that allowed me to escape the hustle and bustle of everyday life. As I embarked on the seemingly very well-maintained trails, I was immediately struck by the serene atmosphere that enveloped the entire preserve. The towering cliffs and dense forests provided a picturesque backdrop, inviting me to explore further and immerse myself in the beauty of nature.
One of the highlights of my visit was the peaceful ambiance that permeated every corner of the preserve. The sounds of birds chirping and creeks running with the gentle breeze created a soothing soundtrack that accompanied us throughout our hike. With each step, I felt myself becoming more attuned to the rhythms of the natural world, allowing me to leave behind the stresses of the outside world and fully appreciate the present moment.
As I reached the end of my hike, I couldn't help but feel a sense of gratitude for the opportunity to connect with nature in such a meaningful way. Blackhand Gorge State Nature Preserve isn't just a place to hike; it's a sanctuary where one can escape, unwind, and reconnect with the beauty of the natural world. Whether you're an avid hiker or simply looking for a peaceful retreat, this preserve offers an experience that is sure to leave a lasting impression...

I was first in the parking lot and it was a weekday, so I had the trails to myself at the start. I saw nine deer in groups of two to three. The trails were ideal...beautiful. I found myself often stopping just to pause and look around. The water features were perfection.
Overall a great experience. I came up from the south, but went through Newark on the way back. Great coffee shop located on the...
