03-23-23 We liked that there were many water features like ponds and lakes (no drinking fountains, bring your own water). First wildlife we saw was a colorful bird the a few lizards, turtles no tortoises :( then this white bird with long neck (idk the name of it šŸ˜…) along with a black snake in another trail. I didn’t see the snake until I saw something move that looked like it had little horns… it had a frog in its mouth which made the snake look like it had horns šŸ˜‚. Didn’t get to take a pic of it it slithered away, I was like nooo don’t go yet šŸ˜šŸ˜‚. We did get lost for a bit we didn’t have a map with us, but we did trail alongside the Arroyo Colorado river where there’s big trees on the other side of the river and it looks like a little valley. Looked like something out of Jurassic parkšŸ˜…. At the end of this trail we ended up on the side of a gate that’s closed off..which I found weird so we just simply walked around it..and parking lot is literally right there on the other side of this fenced Chain link gate not the iron but the metal one..anyways yeah long trial good amount of trails nice park....

Nice little gem just at the eastern edge of Harlingen. Well maintained walking trails albeit a smaller park in terms of size. A number of bird blinds and gardens. Many birds visit this park with some nice looking hummingbirds. A huge family of Javelinas also stay here. You are sure to see them if you look closely between the trees and bushes. They seem pretty tame. The river runs along the southern end of the park and if you are an angler, this is a good place to try your luck amidst the murky waters. Nice restrooms with picnic...

This please is beautiful ā¤ļø it has so many different areas and trails full of different animal species. Parking is spacious enough, its never full. They have restrooms but they do need to stock up in soap and hand towels/ toilet paper, other than that the RR are clean. They need to add several shaded stops, most stops are in the open no shade. Maybe add 2 or 3 water station on the trail to sip or refill. I recommend this nature site for day walks/runs or...

Good place to walk only advice i have is take water, some repelent just in case and good walking/running shoes, so I like the fact that it's natural they left it as is. Only thing is they keep up with the edges of trail so they won't close in and they put some benches so you can rest that is nice. Instead of sitting on the ground. So it's perfect peaceful and quiet. I ran into some small critters so I snapped some pics.

From warblers to green jays and bundtings to cardinals this park is a sleeper for birders. Be ready to find broken glass and trash on trails but it’s a safe park it’s worth a trip but you do need some patience and it’s best to come early morning or during golden hour. Pack bug spray . Water and sanitizer in addition to good shoes a good kitchen towel or wet naps for comfort . Best part is it’s free admission
