I am only giving these 5 stars to the original museum in Harlowton, which was created due to my father's life long dream and his and my mothers great generosity and the hard work. Also due to his childten and local community members that wanted it just as bad as he did. If it hadn't bern for him Harlowton may never of had a museum. It saddens me to the core of my heart that due to certain people that the original museum which is located in the Times Building, has been forgotten and been allowed to go into such disrepair. All the hard work, events to raise money, not to mention all the money my mother put into the museum after my father passed away to ensure that his long time dream of a museum for the area to honor our history. It is beyond words how certain people could go out of their way to make sure it was forgotten and thrown aside for the other museum on main street. Some of my father's antiques were moved to the new location without even comsulting my mother. I can tell you that her heart is very hurt over these actions, to the point she will mot discuss the matter, and I am angry to put it mildly. Such disregard for her and her feelings. Shame on those who did it. Don't you have any heart or conscious? I am hurt that the people of my home town would allow this to happen and you know who you are! My parents were always pitching in and helping with community projects both with their time, money and by volunteering and doing things for the community of which most people don't even know about because they did it out of love for community and not for recognition or praise. They instilled these same values into their children. Victor Fischer was an amazing person and so is my mother who dispite how their dream and hard work has been taken advantage of by people in Harlowton, still loves, cares and gives to it. For me, I am angry, sad, frustrated and hurt how such a gift to the community was discarded in such a unappreciated, disrespectable manner. All i can say is that the people who did this and allowed it to happen will have to live with it the rest of their lives. For me, Harlowton will never...
Read moreThis museum was a huge disappointment. It was by far the worst museum on the Montana Dinosaur Trail. Quite frankly I think it should be removed from the Trail. It's dinosaur collection was minimal and not worth the drive to see. The rest of the museum was also poor. It contained a lot of very well preserved items from local residents but nothing was labeled. Going from room to room you basically just saw a bunch of old clothing and household goods and had no idea why these things meant anything at all. These folks need to get busy and do some work do improve the layout of their collection and type up a few cards that describe what you are seeing. Very, very...
Read moreThis is a great little museum. We went with our two kids (10 and 6) because of the Dinosaur Trail Passports, but there is a ton of other great things to see here. Lots of Native American artifacts and local history on display. A two headed calf, some great antique guns, and of course minerals/fossils. I didn't catch the name of the guy who was manning the place, but he was very knowledgeable and made a lot of the exhibits more interesting by telling us more about them. If you get a chance, you'd be doing yourself a solid if you spent an hour or two checking...
