I cannot believe I'm leaving a bad review about the Buffalo River, but people need to know what it's like right now:

The river and banks were covered in litter.

I have been floating this portion of the river for 20 years. (Tyler Bend to Gilbert) and I have never seen so much trash.

From Coors metal bottles sank to the bottom of the river, so styrofoam bait containers, to cups from home, to a tire that fileted my finger open (two banks past the Grinder's Ferry bridge).

I took 3 people with me who had never floated the Buffalo and said things like, "this is as dirty as the Elk River" and "I thought the Buffalo was supposed to be pristine."

We spent a lot of time picking up garbage but didn't have enough bags to haul it all out.

I'm so disappointed. It wasn't like this in the summer of 2020, which was the last time I floated this section.

We need a cleanup float to occur. Is this something that I can get some volunteers to help with?

Also, do not touch the tire after Grinder's Ferry without some serious leather gloves. It will split...

We had a perfect stay at the campgrounds. Everything was sparkling clean. We had a few noisy campers. The host took care of it after I ask. To ensure that campers follow the rules maybe the park service should patrol one hour after the 10 pm quiet hour begins? I have one suggestion. Open the bathrooms near the water, and put trash cans near the river. This should lower the liter on the riverbank. This was a wonderful trip. Floating the...

Watch out for park rangers. They snuck up on us in the dark and searched through our campsite with no probable cause. Kept asking us where we were hiding drugs. Searched my backpack without asking. I didn't really appreciate being accused of illegal drug use and being searched for no reason. We did not have any drugs in our campsite. After they finally left us alone they walked to the next campsite and started harassing them. I will never...

Rock Wall and Buck Ridge Loop - Buffalo National River 3 miles 400 ft elevation gain Last weekend we hiked the Rock Wall Trail and Buck Ridge Loop at the Tyler Bend area of the Buffalo National River and it was such a nice day for a hike! The trail starts out flat but it definitely gives you a workout when you start to climb 400 feet to the top of Buck Ridge. But the first quarter mile is nice and flat.

Rock Wall and Buck Ridge Loop - Buffalo National River 3 miles 400 ft elevation gain Last weekend we hiked the Rock Wall Trail and Buck Ridge Loop at the Tyler Bend area of the Buffalo National River. I was glad we hiked when the creeks were dry cuz there were several creek crossings and our feet would have gotten wet if the water was running. But it hadn't rained in awhile so they were nice and dry. And then of course it rained the day after we hiked so we picked the perfect day!
