I hope that the student's are getting their full-engagement courses here at University of Hartford, and are not in the gist of getting ripped off with high fees, less experience or a dry education experience buried under student loan debt.
Tuition has been purposely increased in the state thanks to politics and bankers. As an IT student, it is VERY important that I have a college that will foster and allow a mindset to think outside of the box, and is hip to what is going on in the tech industry without mindlessly restricting the students. Some relatives have attended this college previously but this was back way before the economic strife in the state. Therefore, it is based upon outdated news.
I do not want to be stuck, owing loans to cover tuition and going through the process of a dry, un-updated and uneventful hierarchy while attempting to get my education with the "pass or fail" attitudes i've been seeing in CT colleges. I've been noticing there's been an increase of security all around in the colleges here (Sandy Hook Reminders) and it's starting to feel more like a prison for students while the competition is fierce. I do hope however, the networking opportunities are better for the students and that yes, some pride in attending four year universities await.
If anyone has any suggestions of PRO-IT and DIVERSE colleges for women in technology that are worth it, please post.
I'm hearing California, Florida, Texas and North Carolina, Central, UCONN are better substitutes for IT students to be at.
If i'm forced to go to another Pro-Hierarchy Traditionalist School that benefits men more than women, I will puke.

Read moreI looked at the University of Hartford while I was applying to colleges, and after a visit to the campus (I'm originally from NYC) I decided NOT to apply to UOH. Someone I went to high school with went here, and she apparently really enjoyed it, BUT:
#1: UOH was JUST a little too big for me (I wanted a smaller, more rural college campus back then) as an undergrad. Small colleges were more what I was after back then. Big universities followed later on for me in grad school and for my post-graduate work. Ironically, I DID go to grad school in Connecticut, but it was because I got into a prestigious university that just happened to be located in the state.
#2: There's more exciting & charming places in New England to live than Hartford (I went to college up in Amherst instead, it was more the "right fit" for me up in the Five College Amherst/Northampton area) even though Hartford itself does have some things to offer (Hartford Stage for example), New Haven, Springfield, Providence & indeed, Boston itself are also ALL entirely more interesting as other nearby places to live and study in than Hartford is. Just not to my taste. I find Hartford DREADFULLY BORING. đ€Ș
#3: I find that Massachusetts overall is also prettier than Connecticut, and is more interesting (to me) culturally and socially speaking. Some of UOH's facilities are nice, BUT overall, the university didn't seem to be the type of place I'd want to spend my four undergraduate years at. There was just "something" about the place that didn't "work" for me. It wasn't a...
Read moreHorrible school they make you jump through hoops to stay at the school when ever they can screw you over they will I made it on the deans list and they still treated me like garbage I got my associates degree from here but, going here was the worst decision of my life i should've went to Uconn or any other school besides here. All they care about is taking your money away and if your student trying to ask for finical assistance or have to talk to anyone who's not a teacher you get the rudest attitude and just ask your self why would i ever go here and this university is not going to be here within a decade even my last semester economics teacher said so and the school gets worse every year they charge more now and accept more because they don't get as many students as they use to this school is just a trying to suck up as much money before it closes and to add onto the paying over 50,000 two of my classrooms was infected by ants and the dorms they are like a prison cell and always dirty don't waste your money going to this school. To add onto this if you go to hillyer college for the firs two year when you move on to another college at university of hartford they frown a pawn you and act like you won't make in the colleges after hillyer its absolutely discussing on how they treat students and the food they in commons is called crapping commons even the faulty call it that because, how bad the food is. They glorify the school when you first go in on orientation to make it look like everyone happy and this is a cheerful...
