I like it for dog walking. The side of the lake away from the swimming area has lots and plenty for access for dog swimming. Also mountain biking and hiking trails, and a long 5M loop around the lake. Also a shorter climb to the castle.
Their is also summer swimming for town residents, and fishing areas, and plenty of parking.

Plug pond is a medium size lake. it has a swimming area with very minimal fee ($1) for Haverhill residents. I arrived there as a non-resident around 4:30pm on a typical summer afternoon and the young gentleman even didn't charge me the $1. Both my son and I enjoyed a wonderful afternoon.
