Top 5 location for Snorkeling on Maui without question!!! The best part about the cove is that it can handle all levels of snorkelers; advanced to the new beginner. Clear water and the sun rays shine through nicely; helping to illuminate any footage you want to capture under water. The cove shape allows for great protection from the wind when it is blowing, so the waves are very minimal. The unique shape of the cove allows you to swim to both sides very easily with a ton of stand alone coral section that protrude out of the water, thus creating a wonderful 360 degree viewing experience. You will see loads of unique fish around the coral; Yellow Tang, Bullethead Parrotfish, Convict Tang, Ringtail Surgeonfish, and so much more. It is easy to park in the parking lot to the South ($5 for non residents), including a sunscreen dispenser on site for free. Very small beach area to sit, but you can enter the cove from the Northeast side and leave your stuff on the rocks easily. It is a very remote area on the road, so your things are safe as tourists are either there to snorkel with you or continue on towards the lava fields.

It's a preserve so please read the signs and respect the area. For example there are certain places to get in at the beach. Yet we watched many just walk over the reef to get in. Plenty of parking at the pay site and doesn't cost much and goes to a good cause. Street parking very limited. Great snorkeling in a protected cove.

This was quite a pleasant snorkeling experience to do with the family. Encompass about two hours of time. We had sure realized that the full face snorkel mess were incredibly dangerous we decided to embark on the journey with basic snorkel masks. As experienced swimmers ourselves it was quite a fun time to be able to explore the reefs and expand our worldview. We put lots of chemical sunscreen into the reefs and we saw no detriments in the reef health. Would highly recommend using chemical sunscreen. However the temperature was quite frigid. There were also quite a few waves that were quite a disruption to the experience. Unfortunately as you left the cove, the water appeared slightly murky. This adulterated the experience significantly and distracted from the overall environment. Ultimately I was able to leave the experience with a newfound sense of accomplishment after seeing multiple yellow fish and a few gray and purple fish. My dad...

This was an amazing place to snorkel! The water is pretty clear and if you are in the cove, the waves aren't too crazy. Just know that after you park, you have to go in the corner by where you pay for parking and follow a trail down to the cove. Or, you can follow the other trail down to a regular beach but with all rocks, no sand. Also, there is only ONE entry to the cove as you cannot walk on the coral. There are several signs around that help you navigate where you are and where to go. This was super cool to see. There were a lot of different kinds of fish to look at and there were even purple and orange sea urchins. There is a $5 dollar parking fee and I think it only accepts card. There aren't any showers or rinsing stations, but it's not too bad because there isn't much sand anywhere. However, there are porta potties in the parking lot that you are...
