My wife and I recently had the pleasure of diving with Blue Wilderness Dive Adventures in Puako, Hawaii, and it was an incredible experience from start to finish. The crew, including dive masters Flipper, April, Sam, and Chandler, and captains Michael, Christine, and Steve, were knowledgeable, professional, and made us feel completely at ease throughout the entire trip.
Over the course of our trip, we did a total of 7 dives, including the unforgettable night time manta ray dive. Each dive was unique and offered a glimpse into the incredible underwater world of Hawaii. The dive guides were skilled at spotting unique creatures and pointing out interesting features of the underwater environment.
I especially want to give a big shout out to Flipper, who had a great eye for spotting the little things and connected with the divers in a meaningful way. Dive Master April was also exceptional, sharing her knowledge and professionalism in a way that was both engaging and informative.
The equipment was top-notch, and the facilities were clean and well-maintained. The entire operation was well-organized, and we felt safe and secure at all times.
The night time manta ray dive was a true highlight of our trip, and the crew made sure we had the best possible viewing experience. It was absolutely breathtaking to see these majestic creatures up close. But it wasn't just about the manta rays - Captain Michael gave us an astronomy lesson, pointing out constellations and sharing fascinating facts about the night sky, while Dive Master Sam regaled us with local tales of the manta ray and its importance to Hawaiian culture.
To top it off, the crew even brought locally made, famous macadamia nut and chocolate chip cookies, which were a delicious treat after the dives.
Overall, we highly recommend Blue Wilderness Dive Adventures for anyone looking for an unforgettable scuba diving experience in Puako, Hawaii. The team is passionate about what they do, and it shows in the quality of their service. We can't wait to dive...
Read moreHad a great time diving with Blue Wilderness this week. They leave out of Puako Boat Ramp which is very convenient from Waikoloa where we stayed. I did a two tank morning dive on Monday. There were 5 divers, Flipper the divemaster, and Joe the captain on a zodiac. I rented a BC and reg. They got all the gear setup including integrated weights and a computer on the reg. It was an incredibly relaxing experience! We saw lots of eels, turtles, three white tip reef sharks, a triton’s trumpet, and lots of beautiful fish. Both sites were pretty close to Puako which was nice.
On Wednesday I did the Manta dive and my wife snorkeled it. It was incredible! They leave from Puako Boat ramp and go just a few minutes up the coast to off of the Mauna Kea Resort beach. I’ve done Manta dives down in Kailua and enjoyed this much more for a couple of specific reasons. First is the depth. We were diving at 17 ft so didn’t worry about air or safety stops. Just let the air out of my BC, lay on the bottom of the ocean, and watched the show! The depth is also nice because snorkelers were able to have an great experience as well. They have a surf board they have put lights in the bottom of and handles around. The lights attract the mantas up to the snorkelers and the lights we put on the ocean floor attracted them to the divers. The three mantas we saw just went back and forth between them and at 17 ft both groups could see them.
The second reason I prefer this site over Kailua is that there were not nearly as many divers/snorkelers here. There are only a couple of shops that use this site whereas the sites down in Kailua were really crowded.
Both the morning dive and manta dive were exceptional. I enjoyed the laid back atmosphere with a very professional crew. Will definitely use them again...
Read moreI want to say is what an awesome experience it was diving with Blue Wilderness Dive Adventures! I did a two tank dive and a Night Manta dive with Richard.
Dave, (instructor) took out freshly new divers in training, one of the things I liked was listening to him explaining to everyone, everything that would make a new diver confident and enjoy the wonderful underwater world.
Daniella the beautiful captain, she’s the one that make everything come together getting everything ready with tanks and BCD’s , I brought my own gear and she knew what to do when I had a leak with my HP hose and on the fly I was back in the water diving again.
Richard, my dive guide who was the coolest guy to dive with! Made my dive fun and relaxing not like some of the other places where you’re on a marathon, rushing everywhere missing out on the sea life. Richard, taking the time looking in the nooks and crannies pointed out along the dive key sea life to take pictures of and finding large Cowrie shells, crown of thorns starfish and an octopus just to name a few. The Manta dive was awesome! Richard swam around to all the divers and made sure that they were getting the most experience from the manta rays. Effort worth noting!
Denise, Dive guide who I didn’t dive with is the one who make the most amazing Chocolate chip / macadamia nut cookies and is worth booking your dive trips to get your hands on these!
Thank you Blue Wilderness Dive Adventures for having an amazing, caring and experienced staff who made my dive enjoyable...
