We drove to Karen rays all the way from Makawao to take my mother in law--I had been there once before and was very impressed by the selection and prices. Along with it being a long drive, I am in my last month of pregnancy. By the time we got there I really had to "go". I went to find the restroom only to find a hand written sign stopping me. I misread it thinking it said for "shipping" customers only, not shopping (pregnancy brain). So, I went and asked the young girl at the counter if I could use the restroom. She was extremely rude, repeating over again "yea, if you buy something." I was completely caught off guard, I have never encountered this kind of "service." We drove over an hour just to come here with every intention to "buy something." Even though we ended up "buying something" it didn't feel good after being treated in such a manner. She sucked all the fun out of our little shopping adventure. Again, for the record, the sign read for shopping customers only. So I'm not quite sure what the problem was. Still, it is a very nice gallery. She was just a...

EDIT-After reading your reply to my review, you obviously missed my point. You justify your disrespectful and rude treatment of a customer with your septic system obsession. There was no mention of a key-the door was open. Great spirit of Aloha, ladies. ORIGINAL REVIEW I will never spend money at this place again after witnessing a blatant disrespect for a customer. An employee pushed past a customer waiting for the bathroom, banged rudely on the door, turned and said to the gentleman waiting, "HE'S next (pointing to another person) HE'S a customer. HE'S already checked out." So it seems they don't consider you a customer until they have your money. When this behavior was pointed out to the owner, she actually tried to justify the rudeness, even yelling at the man who's wife just checked out. Now the owner and employee have ganged up on the customer and his wife. They should treat all of their potential customers with a little more respect, especially when most of their items for sale are mass...

This is a beautiful gallery in an absolutely fantastic unique location. However, beware that, while they try to imply that all of their art is local, some of it is not. We saw a piece there, and called to order it after we returned home from our trip. When it arrived it was shipped from a studio that turned out to be only an hour drive from our house back home in Washington State. We weren't completely satisfied with the piece (it did not quite match what we'd seen in the gallery), so we drove to the studio, which turned out to be very special, and worked with the artist to create a custom piece that was exactly what we wanted. It turned out to be perfect for us because the piece, which is a centerpiece in our home has roots both here and in Hawaii. But it also is a little frustrating that the source of the art was...

This place was sort of out in the middle of nowhere. It's in the town of Kahakuloa, if you can call it a town. More like what we'd call a community in North Carolina. The views here were stunning. Beautiful art work from local artisans. My wife bought some jewelry here. The owner was very nice and we had a nice conversation with her. The porch is a great place to sit and watch the birds and there are picnic tables outside where you can enjoy the views.

Off the beaten path overlooking Kahakuloa, This shop has a big selection of high quality art and crafts from several local artists at reasonable prices. Not the junk you see in Kihei torist shops, or the overpriced pretentious thing you see in Wialea. Genuine and authentic local feel. No food or drinks but a row of picnic tables overlooking Kahakuloa in a beautiful setting. Well worth a stop if you have decided to venture along the north shore.

Such a delightful little place to shop for distinctive little artsy things to take home. Karen was a delight to talk to, and made some suggestions for a bracelet for our oldest son. We also found an adorable turtle hatchling for the little one, and a wooden postcard to add to our collection. The view from the hill is stunning; you really feel like you're in paradise. Definitely worth a stop when you drive by.
