Beautiful place to visit and do a picnic under one of the many shady trees that's down here. Growing up my parents were friends with one of the students that went to the school here during the tsunami and was there that very day. She lived kapehu and she would always pick for us oranges that fell from her tree. L I always remembered the story she told us on her experience of that day. After the first big wave a bunch of students went back down towards the water because of all the fish that were washed onshore. She was one of them and when they ran again towards high ground because of the waves her best friend who was just a few yards behind her wasn't so lucky.
